If you change the spouse options for the diagram to "other side" the blank box should move to the other side of Emma. Thanks Jane. I didn't have that option, but I clicked on "no spouse information" and the children are now shown as coming down from Emma. However, Jacob B has also disappeared! That's OK for this tree, but may be awkward if I have to show both illegitimate children and a later spouse! Have now found the option you suggested under "spouse layout options" so now I can use either of these choices.
