    3. The answer is a simple commercial one. Why would anyone pay the price of a full V4 installation disk, if they can pay the lower upgrade price and still get the full V4 disk? Keeping track of Licence Registration Keys and installation disks/software downloads for all your bought and paid for products (not just Family Historian) does need a little effort. It should be part of your normal backup regime for all your other important data. The task of installing FH V2 then V3 then V4 is not that tricky (you do not have to install the intermediate free upgrades). The task of transferring all the necessary FH data and settings from PC to PC can be far more difficult. However, the FHUG is on hand to help. See their Installation Guide at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:index#installation_guide Regards, Mike Tate -----Original Message----- From: family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John Lockley Sent: 04 October 2011 17:42 To: family-historian-users@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FHU] Installing FH in Windows 7 Linda isn't alone in this problem - it seems to keep cropping up for numerous users. I'm ok Jack - I'm still on XP and FH3, but whether I upgrade or change my computer I shall buy a new installation disk for V4 to avoid all this hassle. Meanwhile, WHY can't those who have paid for the upgrade be supplied with a new version disk anyway? Starting afresh (as I would have to) from my version 2 disk, upgrading via version 3 just isn't an acceptable option. Sympathy to all who are entangled in this problem... It's disappointing from an organisation which is otherwise on the top line. Version 3installed OK using my registration key. The upgrade to V3.1.2 wouldn't install so I went straight to Version 4. I keyed in the registration key -checked and double checked I had it correct, but still get a message to say licence name and key combination are not valid. Where do I go from here? Thanks, Linda Hansen

I might, because my time is worth something too. I think a fresh start is sometimes preferable to a sea of upgrades. However, each to his taste. Thanks anyway, Mike, for the useful aide memoire, and to Victor for a data memoire suggestion. John L

    3. John, I think you have miss-read what I said: Why would you pay the full price if the cheaper upgrade price gave you the same full V4 disk? -----Original Message----- From: family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John Lockley Sent: 05 October 2011 14:55 To: family-historian-users@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FHU] Installing FH in Windows 7 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beryl & Mike Tate" <post@tatewise.co.uk> To: <family-historian-users@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2011 9:32 PM Subject: Re: [FHU] Installing FH in Windows 7 "Why would anyone pay the price of a full V4 installation disk, if they can pay the lower upgrade price and still get the full V4 disk?"
