Tony What I do - see previous post at <http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS/2011-04/1303985172> http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS/2011-04/1303985172 - is include the speculative material in my main gedcom as normal, with a Note to make it clear what is speculative and what isn't. On the diagrams, I have a 'Tentative' flag (could be 'Speculative' if you prefer) which I use to condition the way Individuals so flagged are displayed (changing the box border style, background colour, whatever). If you search the mailing list archive and/or the FHUG website you'll find information on how to condition diagrams with flags. HTH John _____ From: family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tony Evans Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 4:43 AM To: FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS@rootsweb.com Subject: [FHU] Linking to another Gedcom I have a very close relation (GrandFather) whose confirmed information, other than his name, is unknown to me and, I suspect, never will be. I have anecdotal material that I believe identifies him. Obviously I do not want to include this information in my researched Gedcom. If I make a new Gedcom for this person, would I be able to link to it from the Properties box associated with my GrandMother and show this as mostly speculation? Thanks Tony E -- Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi Engari takimano, no aku tupuna; Te mana, te wehi, te tapu me te ihi, I heke mai ki ahau, no aku tupuna. My greatness comes not from me alone It derives from a multitude, from my ancestors; The authority, the awe, and the artistry I inherited these gifts, from my ancestors.
