I have a problem with what appears to be a program error. I use Family Historian Version 3. My aim is to have prefixes and suffixes appear in Diagram Boxes. This I seek to achieve via "Diagram Options", then "Text", then "Edit Text Scheme". I change the "Name Format" to "Adorned", but upon clicking "Apply", the following message appears:- An error has occurred. Unable to rename file C:\ProgramData\CalicoPie\FamilyHistorian\TextSchemes\Standard\-fhAF14.tmp as C:\ProgramData\CalicoPie\FamilyHistorian\TextSchemes\Standard\Birth,Marr,Death,RecNotes.fht The Prefixes and Suffixes (which for my purpose are numerous Naval ranks and decorations) are then shown in the Diagram. But, they cannot be saved. Is there perhaps a patch to repair this program error? Or is there an alternative method of achieving my objective? Many thanks. Peter Brockman

Is this the first time you have tried customising any Text Schemes, Diagrams, Reports, or Queries? Or have you customised many items before and this problem has just started? The C:\ProgramData\CalicoPie\FamilyHistorian\ folder is where most Standard and Custom settings are stored. It is possible that the access rights to these folders and files may be set incorrectly of have become corrupted. >From the account in which you run FH V3 can you use Windows Explorer to Rename any file in these folders. But please take a note of any filename before you change it, so you can rename it back. In particular does C:\ProgramData\CalicoPie\FamilyHistorian\Text Schemes\Standard\~fhAF14.tmp exist and can you rename it? If you cannot rename these files then check the Properties of the files and folders. Right-click on say the Text Schemes or the Standard folder and choose Properties. Is the read-only property set?
