I couldn't find a reliable way to backup and subsequently restore an entire Virtual Machine and its data, even using the recommended Acronis backup product which relies on a Parallels incompatible standalone restore process. So the frequent 'hung' VM's with the consequent loss of data became unacceptable. I now use an Internet based, browser accessed, open source program, my impressions as an iMac convert after preferring a PC since the first incarnation of the IBM PC are most positive. The ease of use, superior ergonomics and the stability of the operating system which sits unobtrusively in the background and which has the inherent stability of Unix upon which it is based for me contribute to a most satisfactory user experience.
