Can I ask how others record an adopted son. I have one with a family on the 1901 census where he is recorded with a different surname. Initially, I linked him to the man by creating another un-named spouse and the child is a descendant of that 2nd "relationship". However, it looks odd on a descendants chart but then it could easily be misleading if I include him as a direct member of the main family group. I suppose I could create an "Adopted" flag and then use that to modify any diagrams (either with an Icon or text line). Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts. Many thanks Brian
Brian If you go to the property area. Open the facts tab then add fact you will see listed 'adoption' add that Victor On 24/01/2012 4:38 PM, Brian Horridge wrote: > Can I ask how others record an adopted son. > > I have one with a family on the 1901 census where he is recorded with a different surname. In the main focus window of the parents, where the list of children show, there is the name of child, sex, date of birth, rel, then the arrow. When on the correct child line you can click in the "rel" box and it will bring up a list of options (illegitimate, birth, adopted etc.) you could try that.
