Thank Jane - exactly what was needed for my HF records -I had looked for the merging exercise but had not had recourse to the families record. Learning daily. Will try to steal the nerve to tackle AS next as Michel suggests. In my previous message I mentioned saving to a "Temporary Folder" which should have read "Temporary Directory". I hadn't called up this and didn't know there was such a "Directory" - is there an explanation to read up for why FH chose to locate the record there? Thank you for your prompt help. Peter
