I have the same problem - with data from lots of websites.. I think it's a "feature" of IE9. When information from a table is pasted into FH, it is converted to plain text with Carriage Return/Line feed between the cells. I paste the data in Word, select the table, and copy it. It can then be pasted into FH. It only takes a few seconds - much quicker than editing out the lines you don't want. If you don't have Word, I would imagine the same can be done using the Open Office word processing program (free download). Or you could try a different browser. Using Notepad doesn't work - it has the same problem, though I think using Wordpad may. Where are you copying the information from? If you paste the information into Notepad does that triple space? I have not encountered any problems pasting in text so I suspect the issue is the source of the information. I hope you are right about these cases being unlikely , Mike, because I have already run the original query. I suppose I could go back to yesterday's back-up copy and start again, but now I come to think of it, the chances of my having any of them without even an approximate date are pretty slim, so I don't think I will bother. To remove all the events, simply download the Blank Death Finder from the Downloads on FHUG http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=downloadinfo&cat=queries&id=99 Run it over your file, then select all the cells for the Death column and press the delete to remove them all. This singularly unhelpful sentence appears whenever an individual has a Death Event under the Facts tab of the Property Box but no date of death. It is no problem when I am looking at the Property Box, but if I am looking at a narrative report, especially for someone born about 200 years ago, to read that "he died" gives me a mild case of apoplexy. So can the sentence at the bottom of the property box be amended so that the default setting for a Death Event without a date of death is that this sentence does not appear? I know I can delete it on a case by case basis, but I have no idea how many cases there are. Regards George Bush

Victor, Windows Easy Transfer is intended for transferring data & settings from one PC to another during installation. Its big advantage is that it preserves user account profiles and program settings that normal backups do not. Its main drawbacks are that it must be run manually, and each time it performs full (not incremental) backups. Therefore, if you want a historical series of backups, a great deal of disk space and time is required. Also, Windows Easy Transfer does not support transferring from a 64-bit to a 32-bit system. Windows 7 has a comprehensive built-in Control Panel > Backup and Restore facility, which should also be considered. See the Windows Secrets article http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/build-a-complete-windows-7-safety-net for full details. This can be scheduled to run automatically, supports incremental file backups, and also disk image backups. Most (but not all) FH custom settings will be backed-up if you include the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\ folder. A complete backup regime perhaps should use both capabilities. Use Windows Easy Transfer occasionally to capture account and program settings. Use Backup and Restore to run automatically on a daily or weekly schedule.
