Dear Colleagues, Is there any way to enhance my family tree diagram by adding gradient colors, or even changing color opacity versus background? I could not find any of these options... Regards, Pedro

Thanks everyone for your patience today, the host I use for FHUG has just emailed to explain what happened and what they have done to fix it. If anyone is interested my guess was right and it was a routing problem. I can't get it either. Firefox says "The server at www.fhug.org.uk is taking too long to respond.". Chrome just says "This web page is not available". Have not tried Internet Exploder. John

It's working for me... what errors are you getting? -----Original Message----- Steve Bye said: Can't access http://www.fhug.org.uk this morning.
It's working for me. Maybe just a temporary glitch. Thank you to everyone who has helped me on my USB/Apple/Cd question! Very grateful.
There is no way to directly plug a USB drive into an iPad but it might work by using a camera memory card and buying a card reader for the iPad. I make extensive use of my iPad for family history matters and it is a very valuable way of carrying or having access to a lot of information. I use an app called Docs to Go to synchronise documents between my PC and the iPad so, for example, I produce diagrams as PDFs and then have access to that via the iPad. The other method I use is to save family history documents, etc in the cloud, I use the BT Cloud as they are my ISP, this saving is set up to be an automatic backup of all I do in family history and then I can access those files in the Cloud providing I have an Internet connection. Very useful to carry the iPad and the update records on there when doing some research, for example our last visit to Orkney. An Internet connection is only needed for the Docs to Go sync. Hope this is of some help, one of the reasons I bought the iPad was for this sort of use and it is very valuable. Jacqui, The simple answer is 'Yes', but as always there are caveats, i.e. It depends how your friend intends to use the external flash drive and how she is going to backup the data to ensure against loss/possible corruption, or failure of the flash drive. Jacqui, I guess you have FH running on your PC and want to send some data to your friend's Apple Mac Mini? There is no problem with FH V5.0.9 writing to a USB pen-drive. (Earlier versions would only write to an existing folder on the USB pen-drive.) Note that FH does NOT run directly on the Apple Mac, it needs something like Crossover/Wine/Parallels. So only saved Reports & Diagrams, or Published Web pages, or the GEDCOM file can be transferred, but NOT FH Projects. You may be able to get an external CD drive which you just plug into the USB port. I have one for my netbook Victor On 08/08/2014 9:44 AM, Jacqui Kenton via wrote: > I have a friend with an Apple Mini. It has no CD Drive. You can always check to see if the list is quiet via the mailing list page on FHUG http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=info:mailing_list If you mean you are getting the messages twice, this may simply be because since the Rootsweb servers where changed, many email clients will default to sending a message to the person who posted a message as well as to the list, so you get a direct message and one via the list. -- Jane.
