    1. [FHU] Need to add Individual & Fact data set to a Query
    2. Gayle Bosworth via
    3. I have customised the All Facts standard query to extract all individuals that have a Birth, Death, Marriage Fact that contains "SA" in the Place field. This query worked well for me to identify individuals that had a BDM fact related to South Australia and I used this list to locate and transcribe BDM certificates. So that I knew which individual's BDMs had either been transcribed or proven by gaining a copy of the certificate I created 3 Flags - BC, DC, MC. Once I have a certificate or have transcribed the certificate I tick the relevant flag. I now want to update my original Query to now exclude records when the relevant flag is ticked. I think I need to combine a Fact Query with an Individual Query. Can I join these data sets in a single query? Thanks for your help. Gayle from Sunny Queensland.

    3. Gayle, rather than using Flags, I suggest you use the Citations of Source records that I presume your 'proofs' create. I would expect such proof Citations to be the first one and refer to a Source record with a specific Type. So if such a Citation & Source Type exists for a BMD Fact then it can be excluded by your All Facts Query. This means the whole process is automatic, and as soon as you add the appropriate Citation to a Fact it gets excluded by the Query and no Flags are needed. Conversely, if you decide a Citation is incorrect and you delete it, then the Fact is automatically included by the Query again. There is more advice on how to construct the expression to detect those Citations in the FHUG Knowledge Base - Understanding Expressions: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:understanding_expressions Regards, Mike Tate Sent from my Hudl Gayle Bosworth via <family-historian-users@rootsweb.com> wrote: >I have customised the All Facts standard query to extract all individuals >that have a Birth, Death, Marriage Fact that contains "SA" in the Place >field. > > > >This query worked well for me to identify individuals that had a BDM fact >related to South Australia and I used this list to locate and transcribe BDM >certificates. > > > >So that I knew which individual's BDMs had either been transcribed or proven >by gaining a copy of the certificate I created 3 Flags - BC, DC, MC. 3. Mike Sorry for not replying earlier. I have been away I have followed what you have written but only got as far as users because I couldn't find that listed However after following what I could the error message no longer appears so just by doing the four lines you had written it sorted the problem Thanks for your help in this Regards Victor On 19/10/2015 11:59 AM, Beryl & Mike Tate via wrote: > Please check the files & folders in ...\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Queries\ > Right-click, choose Properties, and open Security tab. > 'Everyone', 'SYSTEM' and 'Administrators' should Allow 'Full control' etc, etc... > 'CREATOR OWNER' should only Allow 'Special permissions'. > 'Users' should Allow at little more than 'Read & execute' and 'Read'. > Anything significantly different is probably the cause. > > First of all try re-installing FH V6.0.4 in Safe Mode using 'Run as administrator' as explained in: > http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:family_historian_installation_problems > > If that still does not work, how familiar are you with editing those folder/file permissions? > Maybe post in the FHUG Forums so we can use screen-shots to help sort things out? > > Regards, Mike Tate > > -----Original Message----- > Subject: Re: [FHU] Records Window > > I have just reinstalled it. 3. Reading between your lines, I guess you found the Security settings were wrong and added the Everyone permissions. Actually the permissions should be inherited from the parent folders starting from the Family Historian folder and flowing down to all folders and files. All the others appear OK, so only the Queries folder needs its inheritance to be corrected and forced down to sub-folders and files. 1. Re: [FHU] Upgrading FH under Crossover
    2. Beryl & Mike Tate via
    3. Colin, I am not a Crossover user so rely on others for advice. FH V6.0.4 is a full version but requires a licensed installed V6 copy that it overwrites. So in genuine Windows it is installed over the existing FH V6 leaving one version. The FHUG Knowledge Base says to install both in Crossover into the same FH Bottle. In other words it is similar to installing AS into the same FH Bottle, but FH V6.0.4 overwrites FH V6.0.0. Regards, Mike Tate -----Original Message----- Subject: [FHU] Upgrading FH under Crossover Mike, just a brief postscript to below. This will be the first time I’ve upgraded FH under Crossover. I’ve downloaded the FH 6.0.4 upgrade executable. Is this a full stand alone version of FH 6? When I double click to execute the upgrade Crossover sees it as a new program and prompts to install in a new Win 7 bottle given the name ‘upgrade_fh6_to_fh6.0.4_dl’. Do you know whether this is the right way to do it or should I install into the existing 'Family Historian’ Bottle? If the latter, will this update/overwrite the previous FH version or will I get two installs - old & new - in the same bottle? Apologies if this is a dumb question but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Grateful any advice you can offer. regards Colin Buckthorp

Date: Sun, 18 Oct 2015 20:31:35 +0100 Mike. I had missed that important difference with AS - and yes I meant FH v6.0.4. Thanks the heads up. regards Colin Buckthorp -----Original Message----- Subject: Re: [FHU] Which emulation programmes are supported? You success with AS is because you are using V4.5 and not the latest V5.0 which exhibits the problem, so do NOT upgrade! You talk about upgrading to FH V6.4 but I think you mean V6.0.4 and I advise that you do upgrade. Regards, Mike Tate
