Dear Alan I cannot find the option you need using more+ but have found it using the Menu so: Open someone up in your tree showing the Property box Just above the name of the person there is a row of icons and you should select the one which has a wee red tick on it as that is the Menu button (try hovering your mouse button over it to read the word Menu on the button before you select it) Once you have done that select Customise from the menu which appears A new window opens and at the foot of it there are 2 buttons - the first is for "Installation settings" - YOU need the SECOND which reads Version 3 compatibility Then you agree Yes to the message which appears. Hope that this helps you Anne -----Original Message----- <<snippet>> In FH Version 4 the "Details" tab has been replaced by the "more(+)" pale blue link in the Individual Property Box to the right of the Name field. If you really want the "Details" tab back like in FH Version 3, then select Property Box > Menu > Customize and click the "Version 3 Compatibility" button. Hi Alan, Open the "Property Box" for any Individual - this is the one with the "Main"/"Facts"/"Notes"/"Multimedia"/"All" tabs across the top, but no "Details" tab. Immediately below these tabs is the "Name:" field, and to the right of this field is the very pale "more(+)..." text link. When you hover your mouse cursor over this link it changes to a pointing hand and the link becomes underlined. Click there and a window opens with "Prefix", "Suffix", "Nickname" fields, etc. Back in the "Property Box" just above the tabs is a row of icons including left/right arrows (Go Back/Forward), blue triangle (Up) to parents, etc... The penultimate icon looks like a menu with a red tick and when you hover your mouse cursor on this icon it shows tooltip "Menu". Click there and choose "Customize" from the drop-down list. In the "Customize Property Box" window, click the "Version 3 Compatibility" button at the bottom to get the "Details" tab back. Jaqui, I found it. I had the field box so narrow it was hidden!. The word "more..." appears on the far right of the screen, when the Individual Property box is open. It is just beside the name field box of the individual featured. It is a very pale blue! <<snippet>> Can I ask how others record the fact that an individual is recorded on a War Memorial or has a normal headstone. I could not find an obvious "standard" Event or Attribute so I guess I'd have to create one. Initially, I'm trying to add the details from the CWGC website which gives the Cemetery / Memorial and a Reference so I'd want more than just a Flag. I suppose I could add the information as notes against their death / burial but something separate would seem better. <<snippet>> Brian, You are correct, there is no Standard Event/Attribute. The FHUG has a 'Death & Burial' Fact Set for download that includes a 'Memorial Attribute' and 'Grave Location Attribute' that may be suitable. See http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:death_and_burial Regards, Mike Tate

Oh, thank you so VERY much! Simple...when you know how. I like that "minimalist" - just what I need. The new version is spot on for using in RO to keep eye on things while "rummaging" down a new line! I was half expecting this to turn into another saga of software not talking to printer! Hello List Idiot here seeking help please! I've had to give up my defunct Generations software [which I have used for many years!] and move to Family Historian 4. Hello Janet, <<snippet>> When I go into the Records Window if I want to see families I have to go into records lists and click on families and then families opens in the records window. My problem is that when I close the program down and then re-open it next time I have to do this again even though I have saved before closing down. How do I keep families in the records window permanently please. <<snippet>> There is no perfect answer to your request, but there are some options that may help. 1) You can make the Records Window display at startup instead of the Focus Window. See Tools > Preferences > Startup tab and tick Display the Records Window at Startup. 2) You can make the Families tab permanently visible in the Records Window so one click will open Family Records. See Tools > Record Window Options and under Record Type Display Options change Families from Always hide to Always show. You can similarly change other types such as Notes, Repositories, and Multimedia so they Always show. Regards, Mike Tate
I know that there must be a very simple solution to my problem but I just can't find it. When I go into the Records Window if I want to see families I have to go into records lists and click on families and then families opens in the records window. My problem is that when I close the program down and then re-open it next time I have to do this again even though I have saved before closing down. How do I keep families in the records window permanently please. Regards Janet
Can you provide the error you are getting when you try to enter your License? Also can you confirm you have V3 Upgrade CD and a V4 upgrade CD and entered the licenses as you installed?
