The simplest way is to export from FH and then run Res Privata over the file http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:res_privata_-_gedcom_privatisation On 24 August 2011 11:35, <info@genealogyprinters.com> wrote: > To export a privatised gedcom from FH > > I want to export the gedcom with everybody born within the last 100 years > privatised, for example I don't want them ommited from the file, I still > want them to be in the exported file but I do not want any of their data, > just their names exported. > -- Jane. To export a privatised gedcom from FH I want to export the gedcom with everybody born within the last 100 years privatised, for example I don't want them ommited from the file, I still want them to be in the exported file but I do not want any of their data, just their names exported. Best Wishes. Ron
Thank you so much will now go ahead. I would be nice if someone or company could publish a book on how to use the queries. I have looked at the help but it does not address many issues. thank you very much Jane I will try this I have some persons with no birth or death date but do have a marriage date/ This you have made no comment in your suggestion , you mention 2 INDI.BIRT and one INDI.DEAT but no INDI. marriage ?? Was this an oversight or deliberate Thanks John In a message dated 24/08/2011 15:12:10 GMT Daylight Time, janetaubman@gmail.com writes: On 24 August 2011 13:19, <APhill1274@aol.com> wrote: > If date of birth is blank (null?) and date of marriage is blank and date of > death is blank then the query result will not print their names. Something like a Row condition of Add If =bool(Exists(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%) or Exists(%INDI.DEAT.DATE%) or Exists(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%)) is true, should work for you. -- Jane. Dear Janet I have taken the 1911 Query census from the custom query list but want to alter it so that if the following condition are met then the persons would NOT be printed on the results list. If date of birth is blank (null?) and date of marriage is blank and date of death is blank then the query result will not print their names. At the moment is shows as N/a Thanks John

You should be able to use the standard "Contains Text" Query, on it's own or use the results from it to populate the Report Record selection. So select Individual Summary, then on the Record selection use Add using Query and run the Contains Text query and enter the result you want. If you want to select additionally by letter of the Alphabet just copy the Contains text query to a new one and add a Exclude unless Surname starts with, set as a parameter and select the letter as you go. One of the mailing lists I subscribe to is running a 'roll call' where people post details of people on their trees that relate to that list, one letter of the alphabet per week. I've been using the standard search feature to look for people that match, but it's very clumsy as I have to start from the first match and manually step through. I then have to extract relevant details from the search results002E What I'd really like to be able to do is to run an individual summary report (or similar) for each person who has a particular word in any of their records. I can't see how to do this using a query as it seems like I have to add a condition for every record type. I'm still using V3.1.2 Cheers Graham No virus found in this outgoing message. I would always recommend if you are working on long lines to use something like PsPad to enter them in. PSPad has a couple of advantages over both the input line on FH and notepad. http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:pspad_editor 1. When your cursor is on a bracket it shows you where the closing one is. 2. If you spend the time to download and install the Syntax and prompting extension I did you can prompt the functions. http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:pspad_fh_functions Thank you Jane I will have to digest this slowly! Thank you very much to Bran and Jane who together have enabled me to do just what I want. With any Query to sort them just click on the column heading for the column you want them sorted by, before you print. The same as you do on the Records Window. Jane Thank you it has now finally worked. Obviously cutting and pasting meant that some hidden line break instructions were present I thought that by doing this I was less likely to make a mistake! Joan
I just cut and pasted the line, via PSPad to get it all on one line and pasted it into FH and it worked fine. Not currently, but if you reduce the minimum box width (dimensions tab on diagram options) for the diagram you can drastically reduce the amount of space the spouse box takes. Jane and Mike Thank you for your suggestions. Mike I am very grateful for your amendment. I have put it in as %INDI.BIRT.DATE:YEAR%=TextIf(%INDI.BIRT.DATE:XDATETYPE% = "calculated","(est)","")=TextIf(Exists(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%) or Exists(%INDI.DEAT.DATE%) ,"-","")%INDI.DEAT.DATE:YEAR% But when I use Test it tells me I have an error. This error is normally at the start of the second =TextIf but occasionally it finds fault elsewhere as I have tried playing around with spaces. I seem to have the right number of brackets so my error must be more fundamental I have looked at the references you gave but I still do not know where my error is. Joan
Hi, Can someone point me to the answer to the following problem. If a woman has an illegitimate child before she has two subsequent marriages, then is it possible to attach this child directly to the mothers box in a diagram, rather that have the complexity of a third, but empty, spouse box ? Nev.
