    3. I've just done a manual update of McAfee (which subsequently required a reboot of the PC) and Family Historian is still running after 5 minutes (as opposed to the one minute everyone with McAfee has been experiencing over the last 48 hours or so.) 2. Peter Henderson
    3. You seem to have created duplicate families - I am sure I have done it myself but I can't remember how. It is easily fixed by merging these duplicate families. Click on the Families tab in the Records window. If you don't have one, click on View->Record Lists->Families and FH will create the tab. Scroll down till you see the duplicate families, select both using Ctrl-click, and then go to Edit->Merge/Compare records. FH will guide you in the merge process but it should be straightforward. In the case of the female, she will appear in a duplicated entry with no spouse as well as in individual entries with the two men. Such families appear at the end of the families list. 3. I don't want to tempt fate but I too have not experienced any problems. I have a Dell Studio desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) service pack 1 with automatic updates, Family Historian 4.1.3, and an up-to-date copy of McAfee. I do not have the parental controls option of McAfee switched on, nor am I currently using QuickClean, which I understand is supposed to clean up unused system files and registry entries. I wonder if this is cleaning up things that FH uses...? Despite this posting, offered as a potential help in identifying the problem, I respectfully suggest to other list-members that we do not start a "mine's working OK too" chain of postings unless there's something constructive to add - otherwise my In Box will get quickly full! The problem has been mentioned on this Mailing List in the "Program suddenly crashes" thread of discussion. If all else fails then that is what you may have to do. Please check all the other details associated with you and your husband. Are the "Sex" entries of "Female" and "Male" correct? From what you say about his "relationship" is now "wife" it sounds as if these are reversed. Are all the other "Facts" such as "Birth" and "Marriage" correct? If not then are they simply swapped like the "Sex" entry? If everything has somehow got swapped then simply exchange the "Name" entries for you and your husband and all should be OK. If it is more complex than that, then it may be best to start again from scratch. "Record Id" numbers are allocated automatically by FH and you should never need to change them. However, "Tools > Work with Record Identifiers" does offer some possibilities. Use "Copy existing record ids into the Custom Id field" and "Perform Task". Edit the "Custom Id" in you and your husband's Individual records to swap 1 with 2. 3. I had almost perfected the web-pages of my family history to send my family but decided to merge my husband's gedcom of just him with my tree because it had so much more detail. But now (using Gedmill) he and I have exchanged record numbers, so that if I click on the index on his name, my record comes up instead of his. In Family Historian his "relationship" to me is now "wife" and he is Record No. 1 and I'm No. 2. I've steered clear of ever trying to change record numbers in the past. But I must have missed something when I merged his file with mine which caused this to happen. Please can someone tell me in (simple terms please) what I need to do with record numbers and relationships in Family Historian to put it right? Many thanks, Val

That is very true with the previous versions of FH but I have found that after 'merge' I can go to edit and unmerge them which restores things to just before merge. This is similar to many undo things when working on FH. But it has to be immediately after merging. Victor

    3. Val, The first rule of "Merge" is to ensure you have backup copies of what you started with so you can undo the "Merge" if necessary. Then back in "Work with Record Identifiers" use "Generate new record ids by copying Custom Id values" and "Perform Task".
