    3. Hi - thanks Jane & Victor. The query worked OK. I run Windows 7 still.... Phew, can happily get on the plane now knowing all is in order. 3. Linda asked: <snippet> On my pc I have configured the columns in the records window a certain way but they don't display the same way on my laptop - should they, or do I need to reconfigure them? <snippet> Victor said: <snippet> If you have Windows 8.1 just move your FH details to the Sky Drive section. With Windows 8.1 on your lap top you have them both directly linked. <snippet> Unfortunately, Records Window Column configurations are stored in the WINDOWS REGISTRY (as are some other settings) and so CANNOT be transferred via SkyDrive. So the "Save to Query" and "Load From Query" technique is still necessary. Also this is the best method even if you use the "Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings" Plugin, but nervous about changing the Windows Registry. Regards, Mike Tate

    3. I'm sorry to ask such a basic question on list but I am under time pressure and need to get FH looking the same on my laptop as on my pc before my flight. On my pc I have configured the columns in the records window a certain way but they don't display the same way on my laptop - should they, or do I need to reconfigure them? If they should look the same how do I get them to? Thanks for any help, Linda

    3. If you have Windows 8.1 just move your FH details to the Sky Drive section. With Windows 8.1 on your lap top you have them both directly linked. That is the case with me. I also have a Windows smart phone and 8.1 one is there and I see FH is there too but haven't opened it yet (still learning to use my smart phone) so have no idea how good it is Victor On 09/12/2013 1:21 PM, Linda Hansen wrote: > I'm sorry to ask such a basic question on list but I am under time pressure > and need to get FH looking the same on my laptop as on my pc before my > flight. > > On my pc I have configured the columns in the records window a certain way > but they don't display the same way on my laptop - should they, or do I > need to reconfigure them? Alternately you can simply go to column settings on the desktop and save as a query, copy the query to the laptop and using Load From Query option to use the query as the columns. -- Jane. 3. The book mentioned below has been adopted and is on its way to a new home. Connie Williams From: Connie Williams [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 06 December 2013 12:06 To: '[email protected]' Subject: The Book - Getting The Most From Family Historian, Version 4. In having a paper clearout I realise that I have a surplus paper copy of this book, in good condition and ring bound in a plastic folder. Since I also have a printed copy of Version 5 I am willing to mail the version 4 copy off to anyone who could benefit from it, rather than simply recycle the paper. Connie Williams

    3. Jack asked: <snippet> Can one print items from a multimedia file, in FH5 ? <snippet> Does "Publish > Multimedia Report" give you what you want? Also the "Multimedia" files appear in many other Reports to supplement the data. You can open any "Multimedia" window, select any file, and click the red triangular "Open Editor/Player" button. Then within whatever program opens the file, there will be a "Print" option. Or have I misunderstood the question? Regards, Mike Tate

    3. I have had no mails from FHUG since the 11th November. Is this just a lull in the traffic or have I somehow become 'disconnected'? The trouble is I have two email addresses and I can't remember which of them I used to register, so I am sending this twice using both of them.
