Just in case you haven't realised, you can opt to use a christening fact in Ancestral Sources under Tools->Options->Baptism Options. Just tick 'Use Christening fact instead'. You are probably thinking of Mike Tate's plugin 'Chang any Fact Tab'. (Assuming you have V5 and can use plugins.) The Christening-to-Baptism and Baptism-to-Christening changes are on pre-defined buttons as they are the most commonly required changes. I don't think there will be any problems resulting from changing AS-generated baptisms to christenings, but you might want to consider making the change the other way, so that all your christening events become baptisms. Then if you continue to use AS for baptisms in the future you won't have to remember to keep running the plugin to change the events to christenings afterwards. Mike, It is a pity you did not use the Plugin "Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings" as that copies all your icons and every other setting into your Project folder. That would then have transferred to the new PC. If there is any possibility of getting files off the old Win 7 PC then that would be one option. NEVER TOUCH ANY FILES IN the C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Family Historian\ folder. These are the installation files and settings with grave consequences if upset. C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons\ is where your icons should reside. That FH folder is also the location of many other customisations for Diagrams, Queries, Reports, Plugins, etc. If there is any way you can retrieve the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ folder from the old PC then that will resolve most issues. There is a great deal of advice on the FHUG website http://www.fhug.org.uk/ regarding where FH stores settings, how to backup that crucial data, and move it to a new PC. The icons are sized at 250dpi so that they are quite small, as some individuals could have 6+ icons displayed along the bottom edge of their 'box'. I can then easily see where there might be missing supporting evidence. Following an enforced upgrade to Win8.1, my FH project transferred successfully, other than the icons - the Icons folder for some reason had not been backed up. I took Jane's advice and re-created these in the diagram/options/box/add condition process, and selected the right icon for each condition, resized it to 250 dpi and all seemed ok. However, it is misbehaving, as about half of the icons/flags operate correctly, and can be selected from the drop down list which appears when you right click on an individual's record and select 'set flag' - however the other half do not appear in the drop-down list, and even if I manage to force it, it refuses to be downsized to 250 dpi and instead appears on the chart in 'native' size - about the same as the box! There seems to be some corruption somewhere. It may be associated with confusion in my own mind about where the Icons folder is meant to be stored - is it under C\ProgramFiles(x86)\Family Historian\Icons or C\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons ? There was a bit of a scramble trying to get things off a dying Win7 laptop and/or from a big back-up drive which usefully encrypts filenames! Diana, You need to delete the Family Record that linked X to Y. In the Records Window open the Families tab. If not shown then use View > Record Lists > Families. Search the records for an entry for "...of X" by entering X in the Husband box at the top. If you expand this record it should only link to the Husband X. Then delete this Record by pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. I have been asked because of sensitivities to remove all references to this liaison so I have deleted all the individual records for Y and her descendants. However on the diagram X is still shown with two boxes for the two partners. One is his wife and the other is where the other partner Y would have been. This latter box is blank and on the Record Properties it says that there is no record selection. Is it not possible to get rid of this blank box which now does not represent anybody? I am warned that if I delete it I would be deleting the entire tree. (I know I can hide it but that is not what I want to do. And I know that what I am doing is not good practice genealogically speaking!) Diana
John, Please see the FHUG Knowledge Base > Family Historian > Installation Guide: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:index#installation_guide This discusses what is in the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\ folder. DO NOT EVER TOUCH ANY FILES IN THE C:\Program Files(x86)\ folder. These are the installation files and settings for Family Historian. There are Family Historian files and settings in more places than I suspect you realise. However, NONE of them can be relocated, but many can be exported to the Project's Public folder. See the FHUG Knowledge Base > Family Historian > Understanding the Scope of Features: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:understanding_scope_of_features What I advise is that you use the Plugin "Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings". This saves a copy of all the above settings in your Project folder for ease of backup and restore. For settings it's easier to use Mike's excellent backup and restore plugin. If you want to move the locations of the Settings folders you can do this on NTFS formatted PC's using symbolic links. http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:link_shell_extension It's a bit advanced in PC terms, but works well for me to keep my custom plugins, text schemes etc in my Dropbox to allow them to be used on both PCs What I also have is a folder above Family Historian Projects which is Family History which contains not only the FHP folder, but also miscellaneous other Family History related files. -- Jane. The "Show Project Statistics" Plugin provides a statistical report but also identifies unusual data entries. There is nothing malformed in the GEDCOM it is just that some data entries are so rare they are worth highlighting. A Family Record with only Children is perfectly valid GEDCOM, and identifies siblings where the parents are unknown, but it is unusual. Similarly, it is valid GEDCOM for an Individual to 'marry' the same Spouse twice, but the Plugin reports it as exceptional.
