    3. The green button on the left labelled "Delete every _ATTR-Position" or Delete every Occupation" will perform the delete. The green button to the right labelled "_ATTR-Position to Title" or "Occupation to Title" is the one to click to perform the change. The instructions cannot be more explicit because the button labels change depending on your choice of Facts. 3. Valerie I use FH for my ONS. I have one project per country. I make great use of the Find Duplicates plugin and also some custom queries. As I come across new data I use the queries to see if there is that person in the database if not I enter the data. After data entry I then run the Find Duplicates just in case. If one of my names moves from one country to another I do an export of that individual (and their family if they went with them) and an import into the appropriate other project. I find this way of working suits me. I also use Ancestral Sources to add sources to the individuals where appropriate. I know there are several other members of the Guild of One-Name Studies who use FH for their studies. -- Regards Colin http://turnspain.com http://orba-design.com

    3. Valerie, Like Colin, I use FH for my ONS, but I have one project per family, as mine are inclined to migrate across Country borders. FH is the only program I've found that uses GedCom as its database structure, so no conversion is required when sharing data or when uploading to my TNG website. The plugins look very promising, but I've yet to explore that feature. HTH, Ken Guild ONS 1331. 2. Colin Filmer
    3. I have been doing a one name study for many years on the Filmer family, which almost without exception traces it's origins back to one family in Kent in the 15th/16th century and from there back to the 13th century. I think Family Historian is an ideal programme for connecting up the many diverse and worldwide members of the family, which now number over 23,000. I back it up with an Access database file, which is ideal for recording individual data and sources and which can be searched in many different ways to find and prove links in our family tree. Access data is easily correlated with Family Historian by using Custom ID numbers against individual entries where and when a connection can be made and the absence of an ID number highlights where more research is needed. Though I have never used it for this purpose, I think Excel would also be suitable programme for recording individual data, though I don't believe it is as flexible when it comes to searching for possible connections. Another programme that I once used was Custodian, though again Access is more flexible if one can master it. Family Historian and Access also need to be supported by programmes such as Word, pdfs, pictures, etc to record research which cannot easily be recorded and searched on a data based programme. I am lucky in that the Filmer name almost without exception originates in Kent and the size of the family allows the above approach. A different approach may be needed with a more widespread name. 2. Beryl & Mike Tate
    3. Yes Nev, that is exactly what is listed when a custom attribute tag appears in your GEDCOM data, but there is no matching Fact Set definition. To get to that state you must have created a Fact Set definition for a Position custom Attribute in the past prior to creating the Position facts. However, in the intervening years the Fact Set custom Attribute definition has either been deleted or has not migrated from PC to PC. Note that such customisations are NOT saved in your Project, but quite separately in the Calico Pie Program Data. 3. As the people were 'all Barons and the like', perhaps you based the 'Position' fact on the standard 'Title' attribute? Have a look at the Title attribute, as you might just have changed its Label to 'Position' using Tools > Work with Fact Sets. 3. Victor, Firstly, what does 'File > File Statistics' say your GEDCOM 'File Name' is? If you can take a screenshot of your 'Family Historian Projects' folder & sub-folders you could post it in the FHUG FH 'General Usage' Forum. http://www.fhug.org.uk/ Then we can see what has happened to your folder structure and advise how to fix it, otherwise we are working in the dark. I suspect it has been caused by using 'File > Gedcom File Tasks' in FH, or perhaps by editing the project folder in Windows Explorer. 3. Hi I have hidden some boxes in a diagram and then realised I had hidden more than I intended. I used the Show Hidden Boxes option and got them all back. My problem is how do I deselect a selected box so it is still in the diagram after re-hiding the remainder. Any help appreciated. Alan
