He was some 18 years older than her, but made himself younger on the censuses, probably so it didn't look so much like cradle-snatching. I've traced Peter back to Innerwick, born around 1840 to James Fairbairn and Jane Craig. And I've found a corresponding marriage for James and Jane in Cockburnspath, Berwickshire in 1829. Does anyone know about or have connections to this family?
