    3. Please can someone confirm that Walter FAIRBAIRN, indexed in IGI as having been born in Dunbar, East Lothian on 8 Apr 1864 to Peter FAIRBAIRN & Elizabeth RUNCIMAN is the same individual as Walter Runciman FAIRBAIRN, noted in 1937 as having been coxswain of the Dunbar lifeboat? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Fairbairn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QdV.2ACIB/97 Message Board Post: Does anyone have any info on this gentleman? I have 3 book sources which say that he was the son of James Fairbairn and grandson of James Fairbairn who was a survivor in the 1881 great storm. Only problem is that I have been in contact with the widow of one of the children of James Jr. and when she sent me a list of the children there is no Alfred. Also, James Jr's obituary (d. 1953 in Cove, Co'path) doesn't mention Alfred or even a son alive in Scotland, just 2 sons in Canada and 1 daughter in Australia. Does anyone know if there was maybe another James Fairbairn who survived the storm and who was from Cockburnspath? Please help as this is thoroughly frustrating me!!!
