    1. [FAGAN] Patrick James Fagan

    3. My great-grandfather, Patrick James Fagan, was born in Co. Mayo, Ireland in 1841. In 1848, he along with his mother, Bessie Long Fagan and a baby sister sailed to the US to meet his father and two or three older brothers. Mother and baby died and were buried at sea. His father met him at the dock and learned about the deaths of the two females. He then took Patrick to an Aunt Kelly (we believe in upstate NY). Patrick ran away once, but his father brought him back. Patrick never saw him again. He finally succeeded in running away, down the Chenango Canal to Binghamton. Patrick enlisted in the Civil War the first time as Patrick James Fagan, and then re-enlisted as James Patrick Fagan. He told the story of meeting his brothers during a battle in the Civil War, and of talking all night. The brothers went into a building the next morning that was blown up moments later. This is a long story, but this has been a roadblock for 20 years for me. He married after the war, and stayed in the Binghamton, NY area. He died in 1938. Any information on this Fagan would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joyce joynor2001@yahoo.com
