Hi Joyce: I, also, am seeking information on my FAGAN families. I looked thru some of my Fagan records for a Thomas Fagan, I did find some Thomas Fagans, however, none fell within the time frame that you are seeking. My Fagan family are from the Castlepollard area, County Westmeath: FAGAN, Luke, b.1898, mar. Elizabeth Halton in 1825 in Castlepollard. They had the following children: Anne, b. 1828, Mary, b. 1831, Bessie, b. 1833, Peter, b. 1836, Catherine Fagan, b. 1842 & Bridget Fagan, B. 1843. The children were baptized in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Castlepollard. The Fagan family emigrated to New York City about 1853. I have some information on them after they arrived in USA. I am trying to find additional information on the Fagan family in Ireland. There were many, many Fagan families in Westmeath, so, finding "your" family can be difficult. I visited Castlepollard in 1997 and visited several sites where Fagans had lived at one time. I also visited St. Michaels church and saw records relating to my Fagan family. I still do not know who Luke Fagan's mother, father and siblings were. I would like to hear from you regarding any information you may find on your Fagan family. I have been searching for a long time trying to Find the place and birth of Thomas Fagan, his parents names, his date of marriage to Jane Smart as well as the birth of their son Thomas Jr. Any help is greatly appreciated. The following is what I know to date. 1) Thomas Fagan married Jane Smart where and when unknown (probably between 1846-1848 in County Down province of Cavan, maybe!!). The family in Ontario, Canada remember theie grandparents mentioning County Down and in Thomas Sr. death obit it says County Down, however exatly where to look has eluded me. 2) Thomas Fagan Jr. was born c 1846 (according to the Canadian census of 1851) however on other census he could have been born in 1847. 3) Thomas and Jane and son Thomas Jr. immigrated to Canada c 1847-48. Their second child Isabella was born in Canada in 1849 so we know Jane had Isabella shortly after arriving in Canada. 4) Thomas Fagan Sr. died Jan 27, 1896 Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, USA and is buried in Pine Grove cemetery. His wife Jane is also buried here, however her date of death is not known. 5) Jane Smart is the daughter of Samuel Smart and Martha Porter (both Samuel and Martha also immigrated to Canada about the same time as Thomas and Jane. Jane's place and date of birth is another mystery that I am trying to solve. bfn Joyce ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
