Welcome to all the new members. I took this list over a couple of weeks ago and been meaning to write. It is normal for all list to be fairly quiet this time of year. There are about 3 times a year when a lot of lists slack off. Makes me wonder at us! We think we are one of a kind but still work the same for most part. I bet you have been needing to sleep a touch longer this time of year too. My name is Susan Hawkins, mother was Luna Fagan b. 1920, called Moon Fagan mostly. she never knew her father, Henry David Fagan or the rest of his family. I have had the delight to sort of show up on the doorstep of her half siblings shortly after one of them had retired and just found out when he started this new hobby of Genealogy that his father had a child he had not heard of . Turns out my grandmother told her her father had died when she was an infant, actually it was a divorce. All the parties involved are gone and so is my mother a long time ago.But I have pictures to look at and wonder at the silly situation and I can see myself when I do 'go upthere' with hands on hips and a really 'you naughty kids' look on my face . I hope they are all embarrassed by their behavior. I couldn't have known my grandfather anyway he died before I was born but my mother would have benefited. My line of Fagans come from Ala. to Texas in the early century. Henry David Fagan b. in 1896 was the son of Lawton Cunningham Fagan and Georgetta Bates of Limestone County Ala. His siblings were Claude Aria Fagan b. 1886 inTenn. Havalia b. 1891, Martha "Mattie" b. 1892, Mary b. 1895 d. young in Limestone Co. Ala., Olivia b. 1897, Solon Guy b. 1900, William b. c1902, and clarence Frederick b. 1903 there were 2 more who probably died very young. All of these children came to Texas. I do not have very many details on some of them. Lawton Cunningham Fagan was b. in Mar. 1853 in Ala. wed 14 Aug. 1880 to Georgetta Bates, dau. of Wm.W. Bates and Martha A.F.( Sandlin , I believe) Lawton died in 1946 in Texas. His father was Adam Fagan b. c1828 in NC, wed 21 Mar.1847 in Forsythe Co.Ga. to Marchell Barnett , they left Georgia and went to DeKalb Co. Ala. sometime in 1857-8. He sort of dissappears , possibly in the War. I lose track also of Marchell. The several of their children end up in Limestone Co. Ala. Lawtons siblings: Jasper Fagan b. c 1857 in Georgia weds Lucinda Montgomery 12 Dec.1885 Limestone Co.Ja. Hannah Fagan b. c1855 no other info. Catherine Fagan b. c1852 wed Cullen Cribbs 10 Oct.1875 Limestone Co. Ala. no other info.,except she I believe was named Emma Katherine Fagan actually. Georgeann(a) b. c1850 no other info Lou Ella Fagan b. cAug.1862 wed 20 Dec. 1885 limestone co. Ala. to James H. Montgomery , I have made contact with a decendant of this branch. most likely kin tothe Lucinda Montgomery who married Jasper Fagan. Nancy J. Fagan b. c 1850 Ga. no other info. Adam Fagan's parents seem to be Silas Fagan who married Mary LeQuire of Rutherford Co.NC. their children ; Benjamin Bristol Fagan b. 12 March 1812 his records show he was a brunette John Fagan b. c1816 Wm.Fagan b. c 1820 (he had blue eyes/florid complexion and curly hair) Kattie Fagan Lucinda Fagan wed 7 Apr. 1846 to Joseph D.King in Forsythe co. Ga. George W. Fagan b. c 1826 Wesley Fagan b. c. 1832 possible father for Silas Fagan---- Zachariah Fagan Also possible father for Mary LeQuire is John LeQuire - ------------------------------------ I havnet done any research this past year. I tend to 'burn out' on one line and move around to another for a while. I hope to make connections with others.I have ton's of misc. Fagan stuff and have had to resort to a big piece of butcher paper to try to sort out the N.C. Fagans. Anyone with good info on any branch please send them to me . The families all seemed to love the same names, they were 'name impaired' when they had children. You long for any new names in each line just to break monotony. I also am the web keeper for the GenWeb in Fannin county Texas and have noticed some Fagans in the area here and in Grayson , really need their records please. I think it is time for a Roll Call on the list, several new people have joined these past 2 weeks. Thank you Susan Caldwell Hawkins
Here is my roll call: There are 2 Fagan lines but I don't know how they are connected. There are some missing pieces and one might be a brother of George Fagan, Sr. that could be father of George W. Fagan b. 1834. Also I suspect there is a sister named Nancy Fagan that married Wiley Whatley but no proof this is so. First Fagan line also spelled Feagin. George Fagan, Sr. b. 1807 SC married Mary Wells in 1832 Henry Co., Ala. Children: Nancy Fagan b. 1833 m. William Angus Bloodworth Benjamin Jack Fagan b. 1836 Martha Patsy Fagan b. 1837 m. John C. Bloodworth George Fagan, Jr. b. November 24, 1837 m. Mary J. Wood abt 1864 James Fagan b. September 1841 m. Annie Elizabeth Miller Mary Ann Fagan b. 1843 m. Luke Turnage Smith Emily Fagan b. October 1849 Sarah Elizabeth Fagan b. 1852 - Luke Turnage Smith Madison P. Fagan b. September 15, 1855 m. Sarah Jane Wilson Amanda J. Fagan b. March 1858 Second Fagan family: George W. Fagan b. July 1834 Al/Ga m. Rebecca Stanford b. Feb. 10, 1834 Ga. married December 12, 1854 Henry Co., Alabama. Their children were: William G. Fagan b. 1856 Benjamin H. Fagan b. January 19, 1859 m. Amie Singley Susan Elizabeth Fagan b. November 16, 1861 m. M. E. Dubose Mildred Lugenia Fagan b. May 7, 1868 m. Charles T. Fagan, Waynesboro, Ms. Calidonia Fagan b. 1869 m. H. C. Mason Julia R. Fagan b. 1872 m. Vivian A. Coats Georgie Fagan b. January 5, 1875 m. A. B. Williamson Robert Walter Fagan b. September 8, 1876 m. Lula Adele Dozier -Waynesboro, Ms. These 2 families were in Henry Co., Alabama from at least 1830, if not earlier, and moved to Choctaw Co., Ala. around 1855. Descendants of these families still live in the Choctaw Co, Ala., Wayne Co., Ms., Clarke Co. Ms. areas. Thank you for any help. It is greatly appreciated. Anita Fagan Heyd

Sue and Connie, I just received more information on my great-great-greatgrandfather William Fagan born 1832 and died 1904. I have been listing his middle name as George but according to records from the national archives his middle name is Grant. Where I got George from was from a locally written book by a man who made little mistakes like that. So whoever received information from me please make that correction. Thanks. Tim Fagan
