    1. Fwd: National Cemetery Protection Act
    2. --part1_77.6467d6f.2692a6ca_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 7/3/00 9:56:14 PM Eastern Daylight Time, rkeason@tir.com writes: << Hi cousins and friends! Your help will be appreciated. I know that most of you are into genealogy as I am and if you have ever visited an older cemetery, you know what deplorable condition many of them are in. Are you aware that many states permit building on cemeteries if they are beyond a certain age? Firms will bulldoze right over headstones without so much as an "I'm sorry that we're burying your ancestors and their history will be permanently lost but that's business." It's too late for many family gravesites and older cemeteries but something can be done to preserve what is left and I would appreciate it if you would take just a moment of your time to help. I have just read and signed the online petition: "National Cemetery Protection Act" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at: http://www.petitiononline.com/sg0001/petition.html I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself. Whether or not you feel that this is an important issue, I would also appreciate it very much if you would pass this message along to anyone you think might add their support to the cause. 3. I feel so very rude but really ( blush) I'm not ignoring you all. I was slowly working through materials to be uploaded or answered and combining it with a busy week. My Twin sons graduated Fri. Sat. I had to get materials in town and hurt my leg just in time to get hit with a terrible storm that took a tree down along with our phone lines. The county and the phone company just reconnected me an hour ago. It was kind of quiet not having any phone ringing or emial to answer BUT instead of being able to sit at my desk to work on web pages --- my stupid foot had to be elevated! I just pulled down about 1100 emails (mostly junk but have to sort so I will catch your question or get back to the previous request as quickly as can. Susan in Texas ( didn't even get to see a good twister for all that excitement! :/

    1. Warning!! a "NEW" VIRUS
    2. Hello, I normally don't send emails about such things as a computer virus, but I thing this info is worth sending. There is a new virus reported late last night, to be the most destructive ever. Every time it hits a new computer the words in the subject line are randomly generated, so it never looks the same coming in twice. The really bad thing about this virus is how destructive it really is. Once infected, the virus begins wiping your hard drive and destroying all files. You can still identify this virus by the following: 1. It has the FW / or Forward command to begin the subject line 2. And the attachment always ends in .vbs As mentioned in my previous e-mail virus alert, be very careful about attachments that you are not expecting or recognize as legitimate. If youre afraid you have received this virus: 1. Dont open the attachment 2. Delete it immediately 3. Then empty the deleted items folder from your e-mail system 4. Contact an ISG person If you open this virus, unplug your computer immediately, dont even try to shut it down, you dont have the time to do this. Than call an ISG person for help. Good Luck and be safe ~ Sharon

    3. Hi, I am new to the list and am looking for information or family of George William Fagan. I, unfortunately, do not have much information about him. We think he was born in Chicago, Illinois around 1855 to 1860. He was married to Katherine (Kate) Yelter or Gulden. He had a son, also name George William born in Chicago in 1884. I have tried to get a birth certificate for George(son) but one could not be located for him. Could anyone give me an idea how to find a date of death for George (Sr.)? Thank you, Diana (Fagan) McDonald

    3. I am still searching too: My search is for Leila FAGAN from Ireland, but lived in Donaldsonville MD. Dates unknown, but their land was supposed to have been granted to them by the King. My GGGrandmother Was Julia/Julia Etta FAGAN who married one Edward WINSLOW in Prince Georges County MD. Everyone called her "nanny" when she got older. I know from pictures that Julia WINSLOW nee FAGAN was still alive as of 1944, and looks about 50 and healthy, but I don't have birth or death dates. Edward died before 1939. This couple had two children. Jim and Alice Edna. My GGrandmother was Alice Edna WINSLOW b. 9/27/1895 d. 12/1973 who married Joseph Lester STICKELL b.1-1895 in Washington DC d. 3-1959. At Prince George's County Hospital. This couple had 12 children in Brentwood MD. Of course one was my grandmother Rose. So who was this Leila Fagan??? No one remembers. My Grandmother had a picture of her and said she came to this country before the 1840's Irish potato famine. The picture is lost and grandma died and now I am left to search for Leila myself. I just wish I knew what county she came from and when she died or something. Does anyone have any FAGAN's in MD? 3. Pay Close attention to this! It happened yesterday! There is a worm circulating that comes in an attachment. When it gets into your computer it invades your Email and sends itself out as an Email from you or from someone that you have saved Email from with a subject line that appears in your saved mail. The best thing to do is not open any attachments without confirming with the person who sent it, that they really did send it. Some of the email says it comes from Rootsweb which it does not. I will never send an attachment to any maillist!. Nor to an individual without a separate Email first saying what I am sending and why first. Be careful about opening those Email cards! Protect yourself. - -------------------------- This info for the digest version part of the listmembers By the way the people who gets the digest versions of email lists , when yours comes in as attachments that is your own email handler doing that. It took me a long time to find out how that happened. The reason it doesnt' happen every digest is the size of the digest varies. If it is a certain lenght or longer it coverts to an attachment in your email handler. Susan in Texas Listmom I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    3. I'm looking for info on John Fagan who married Ann Goodon (Gooden). These names were obtained from a death certificate for their son, Henry Fagan. Henry was born l0 Nov. l840 in PA per the l870 Iowa census, but his death cert says Indiana. Many errors on this death cert that have been documented in other ways. Henry married Elizabeth Hull (daughter of William S. Hull and Julia Ann Lamphere (Lamphier). She was born 3l Oc. l847 in PA per the l870 Iowa Census). Their children were Annette E. (born l8 Feb. l867 in Iowa,m. William Karsten Nagel -date and place unknown, but probably Iowa, died 3l Oct. l9l9 in Vancouver, Clark Co. WA; Franklin (born 3 Oct. l868, Iowa, m. Florence Crandell 21 Mar. l897, died 2 Jan. l942 in Tacoma, Pierce Co. WA); Rosa (born 3 Aug. l87l , Iowa, m. Charles Fred Carpenter 4 Aug. l889 at Beatrice, Gage Co. NE, died 21 May l891 at Beatrice, Gage Co NE); William Gilbert (born l8 Jan. l874 at Boonesboro, Iowa, m. Lelah Maude Lasater on 25 Dec. l893 at Hardy, NE, died 29 Nov. l939 at Wray, Yuma Co. Colo); John Cyrus (born l0 June l876 Madred, Boone Co. Iowa, m. Edna Free on 8 July l896 at Nuckolls Co. NE. Elizabeth Hull Fagan apparently died between the birth of John Cyrus in June l876 and the l880 census as Henry is listed on the l880 Iowa census as "widowed". Henry died 6 Feb. l923 in Yuma. Colorado. I will be glad to share other info I have including pictures of this family and hope somebody can help with blanks on John and Ann Goodon Fagan. Erdine Nugent at Vancouver, WA

    3. There are 6 Fagan who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in the late 1800's, claiming they were of Cherokee descent! There is a huge, complete full name index of all these people at http://members.aol.com/rarebk/ This should be a boon to researchers. When you are on the site, go to the Booklists page, and then slowly scroll down past some old genealogy book titles until you get to the Cherokee section. There are some Cherokee genealogy books there, and one of them has this complete index posted. Quite fascinating! 3. I just sent off for records today for my great grandfather, his mother a Barnett was Cherokee and he appears on the Guion Miller Rolls. Most of these different rolls are available at www.nara.gov. You can actually copy the digital image of the index then you request online the right form you need. Other Fagans on the Guion-Miller roll in 1909 are: Frank & Paul (on one record) Ga. John E. Okla. Mary E. Ga. Mary E. Guardian Ga I have read of some scout who was named Fagan and he was full blooded Choctaw and worked for a while at Ft.Sill and out of Ft.Reno.. from pictures I have of My great grandfather he couldn't deny his Indian blood if he wanted to. He is one of 4 of my Native bloodlines. Susan in Texas Jim T Musgrave wrote: > There are 6 Fagan who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in the late > 1800's, claiming they were of Cherokee descent! 1. Fagan Name
    2. Hi! I am Lorrie Riemer I am researching the Fagan line - a paternal line from Missouri. I have been hung up on my William Fagan who was born abt 1813... His daughter Mary Elizabeth was raised by outer family... (as I have been taught by old family and the newer ones I have found on the Peirce research) in New London Missouri as I have been led to believe. She grew up and married James Samuel Peirce... Mary was born Dec 26, 1836 and married November 27, 1857. I purchased the Lick Creek Beckoned book - which has Fagan family information, only the information a possible William is not proveable. Someday, my hope is to find someone who has my William and Mary in their trees... I hope someone else is researching the Fagan' name in Ralls County Missouri. Lorrie Peirce Riemer
