Hello everyone, I am sure you have notice by now that all the Rootsweb boards and lists have transitioned and have been completed. During the transitions, some of the boards/lists were down and not sure how many we are back up and running. However, starting last week, non active boards/lists are being shut down/closed due to inactivity. If you wish to have these boards and lists remain, please write to the boards/lists with your questions, what you are working on, if you are available to help others with the same or related surnames, etc. and continue to do so. Without the participation of the members, our lists will be closed. I have previously linked the boards of the same surname to their respective lists. I share those with the lists as not everyone on the boards are members and could have some information someone is looking for. I know everyone is busy with family, jobs, etc but please consider writing in every once in a while. It will help keep the list open and available. Have a great evening! Lisa Johnstone List Admin

Hi everyone, Rootsweb lists are back on line and are working. They are still completing some of the archives so that will take longer. The upgrade includes a completely new interface. Also, if you have not re-registered your account after March 1st, you will need to do this. Your email address is still in the system, your password is not. If you re-register with the email address you previously used, you will not have to resubscribe to your lists as they all transfered with the new system. The only thing that did not is your password which is why you have to re-register. Please read the help pages here: http://home.rootsweb.ancestry. com/listindexes/listsHelp Thanks and have a great weekend! Lisa Johnstone List Admin
Dear Shelley, Bless you for trying to return this photo to members of the family. I am descended from Fagans through my mother, and the name Margaret was quite frequently used among them, but all their Margarets were either born quite long after 1855 or died before that date. No one in my Fagan family ever married a Passmore or a Carbutt, and I believe none of them ever were in Kansas, unless they just passed through that state on the way to California. So I don't believe I am related to Margaret (Fagan) Passmore, or if I am, the relationship is too remote for me to claim possession of the picture. Indeed, the name Fagan is thought to originate from 2 or 3 different sources. I wish you good luck in your search for the right Fagan family. I've "rescued" an old photograph of three young ladies which was taken at the Johnston Studio in Belleville, KS sometime in the 1890's. The message on the back of the photograph says "Here we are looking at you" and is it signed by Sadie PASSMORE to Mrs. EUSTICE with compliments. I believe that Sadie is likely one of the young ladies in the photograph based on that message, but I don't know who the others might be, or what their relationship to Mrs. EUSTICE might be, their teacher maybe. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Sadie and what may be at least one of her sisters (Grace PASSMORE) in the photograph as well: Sarah Esabel "Sadia" or "Sadie" PASSMORE was b. 23 Feb 1884 in Belleville, KS to parents Henry Gabriel PASSMORE (1845-1929) and Margaret "Maggie" FAGAN (1855-1944). She was one of 14 children born to this couple including, Anna Laura; Mary "Mayme" Catherine; Mary Jane; Alice Maud; Johnny; Grace Idona; Sadie; Willie; Maggie May; Myrtle or Myrnee H.; Charles "Charlie" Gabriel or R.; Walter Edwin; Donald; and Harry PASSMORE all born between 1873 and 1897. Sadie married Charles Benjamin CARBUTT (1883-1981) and together they had two children, Enid M. CARBUTT (b. 1906); and Cyrus or Syrus Gabriel CARBUTT (1908-1988). Sadie died 31 Mar 1944 in Talmo, KS. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Grant, KS: Henry G. PASSMORE, age 54, born Dec 1845, married 29 years, born IL, parents born OH/KY, a Farmer Maggie PASSMORE, wife, age 46, born Mar 1854, married 29 years, 12 children/6 living, born PA, parents born Ireland Grace I. PASSMORE, dau, age 19, born Jan 1880, born KS, a School Teacher Sarah I. PASSMORE, dau, age 17, born Feb 1883, born KS, at School Myrtle H. PASSMORE, dau, age 11, born Jan 1889, born KS, at School Charlie R. PASSMORE, son, age 8, born Nov 1891, born KS, at School Walter E. PASSMORE, son, age 6, born Nov 1893, born KS I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of the family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

My great-grandfather, Patrick James Fagan, was born in Co. Mayo, Ireland in 1841. In 1848, he along with his mother, Bessie Long Fagan and a baby sister sailed to the US to meet his father and two or three older brothers. Mother and baby died and were buried at sea. His father met him at the dock and learned about the deaths of the two females. He then took Patrick to an Aunt Kelly (we believe in upstate NY). Patrick ran away once, but his father brought him back. Patrick never saw him again. He finally succeeded in running away, down the Chenango Canal to Binghamton. Patrick enlisted in the Civil War the first time as Patrick James Fagan, and then re-enlisted as James Patrick Fagan. He told the story of meeting his brothers during a battle in the Civil War, and of talking all night. The brothers went into a building the next morning that was blown up moments later. This is a long story, but this has been a roadblock for 20 years for me. He married after the war, and stayed in the Binghamton, NY area. He died in 1938. Any information on this Fagan would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joyce joynor2001@yahoo.com
I don't believe this Elizabeth Fagans was in my line. My earliest ancestor, Phillip Phagan (Fagan) was first found in Augusta Co. Virginia in 1751. His son, Moses Phagan (Fagan) was born on a wagon train while passing through N. C. Phillip was on his way to S. C. to claim a grant of land given him by the King of England.
