Regarding my last email... I found the following in "Calvert County, Maryland Wills 1654-1700" by Raymond B Clark, Jr and Sara Seth Clark, on page 27, it reads: "EVANS, Richard, of the Clifts, Planter (nunc.) Came Capt. Cobreath, of Calvert Co., presenting nuncupative will of Richard Evans, all he had to Cobreath only [except] few legacies. To Richard Lake, Gent. personalty; to Capt. Richard Hill, a gun; to Robert Dickson 6 barrels of Corn; to James Holman, 1 heifer. Made: _______ Probated: 3 Jan. 1675 Testators: Robert Dickson, Elizabeth Dickerson, Edy Carpenter. Appraisers: William Auld, and William Davis. Source: Wills, Liber 2, ff. 376-377., My question with reference to the website I quoted last email which says that Richard Evans 1703 is the son of Richard Evans 175....if this were true, wouldn't "our" Richard Evans appear somewhere in this will? Do you think that the Maryland State Archives would have a longer version of this will that might have more clues? Or, since it is a nuncupative will (deathbed will?) that this short version is all that is there. Renee
It appears that the Richard Evans who died in 1675 did not have a wife or children. If he did I am sure they would have been mentioned in his will. I doubt he is the father of our Richard Evans died 1703. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Evans-Richard List Administrator" <listadministratorevans@earthlink.net> To: "OurEvans-Richard Rootsweb Mailing List" <EVANS-RICHARD@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 06, 2010 4:29 PM Subject: [EVANS-RICHARD] another question about Richard Evans "of the Cliffs" > Regarding my last email... > > I found the following in "Calvert County, Maryland > Wills 1654-1700" by Raymond B Clark, Jr and Sara Seth Clark, on page > 27, it reads: > > "EVANS, Richard, of the Clifts, Planter (nunc.) > Came Capt. Good to hear from you, Gordon. It's been a while. As a coincidence, I just finished loading some of the material you sent onto the website. I'm not quite sure what happened but somehow these papers got separated from the items I uploaded long ago. So... apologies for that; but they are on the site now.
