I have two newspaper articles that report the death of Richard Foreman Evans. One names the parents as J.B. Evans and the other one names J.W. Evans as the parents. My records tell me that John Wallace Evans 9/16/1865--3/25/1942 married Katie Evans 10/5/1887. She was born 10/6/1867. Their children were Richard Foreman Evans (the football player who died), born May 1888 and died 1907., Rush Ervin Evans 8/21/1892--10/15/1975, Anna Elizabeth, 1893--- and Katherine or Catherine 10/1898--7/15/1973. Katie Evans , daughter of Foreman Evans and Anna Ferris .John Wallace and Katie were cousins. Correct me if I am wrong but here are the names that I have. Richard, father of Isaac. Isaac married Mary Wallace Ervin (second wife of three) Richard Scott Evans was the son of Isaac married Sarah Elizabeth Ervin and they had sons , James Ervin Evans 12/27/1861--1908 and John Wallace Evans 9/16/1865--3/25/1942 Most of these facts and dates were found by me in the local paper where Jean Wallis, a local historian , has a column.
Hi Suzanne, My information concurs with yours. In a couple of instances I had a "fuller" date than just the month and year and in a couple of instances you had a death date that I didn't have. I had Isaac's wife as Mary Wallace [no Ervin] and, yes, she was the second wife of three: Morton, Wallace, and Peables [many variant spellings]. I also had Richard Scott married to Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ervin. I also had Richard Foreman Evans but that he was known as "Dick". I did not have J. B. Evans, I had John Wallace, [J. W.] Evans and wonder if that is just a typo in the newspaper article. So we basically agree on all of the data. Thanks, Suzanne.
