    1. Re: [EVANS-RICHARD] Alice's information on Richard 1725
    2. GORDON BAKER
    3. As we all know the Evans name is very common. I hate to be a wet blanket and I know what I am writing will stir up a lot of trouble and hard feeling among some on this Evans list. But genealogy is based on facts. Facts that are based on documention. I don't believe that the Richard Evans born 1725 is a son of Samuel Evans 1691. 1. The Swan-Hughes Bible clearly has the birthdates of the children of Samuel Evans 1691. It states that his son Richard Evans was born 26 May 1736. The Bible and it's birth records are in the book "The Ten Mile Country and It's Pioneer Families" by Howard Leckey on pages 165-169. 2. This same Bible has a child named Sarah born 5 April 1725. So there was a child born in 1725. 3. In the 1773 Assessment Roll for Springhill Township, Bedford Co., PA there are listed John Evans, Hugh Evans and Richard Evans. It has been assumed this Richard was a brother of John and Hugh. But it cannot be proven. 4. If Ms Hofer is positive that her Richard Evans was born in 1725 then I believe it is impossible for her Richard Evans to be a son of Samuel Evans 1691. I know some of you will not be happy with what I am writing but we have to go with what facts we have on this family and Richard Evans 1725 just does not add up to be a son of Samuel Evans 1691. Don't get mad at me just study the facts........ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alice Hofer" <alice.hofer@yahoo.com> To: <evans-richard@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 12, 2010 4:37 PM Subject: Re: [EVANS-RICHARD] Alice's information on Richard 1725 > (Renee, this is a draft I just found that looks like I put it away and > never > sent. 1. Re: [EVANS-RICHARD] Alice's information on Richard 1725
    2. Don Raymond
    3. Gordon, I would have to concur with your analysis. I have found a lot of Evans family scattered around that potentially connect if enough documenting facts can be found, but with presently known information, they can't be proven. This doesn't mean I pitch all that information because the day may come when proof is found. Or, it may be of help to someone else chasing that family line. I hate to be a wet blanket and I know what I am writing will stir up a lot of trouble and hard feeling among some on this Evans list. But genealogy is based on facts.
