This is speculation. Page 185 of "The Tenmile Country and its Pioneer Families," gives a Foster family lineage in which it is speculated that Thomas Foster Sr. is a half brother of John Swan and that a son, Thomas Foster Jr. married a Rachel, no surname given. Page 184 of same book, in photo copy of transcribed records, 1745 John Swan conveyed to Thomas Foster "Evans Delight," part of "Evans Range," Elizabeth Swan his wife releasing dower rights to this land. (NOTE: this would appear to be John Swan Jr. making this deed to a John Foster) Other published accounts give John Swan Sr. as the second husband of Elizabeth Green, who married first to John Foster and four sons are listed, John Foster circa 1709, Richard Foster circa 1710, Thomas Foster circa 1711 and Hugh Foster circa 1715. John Foster the elder reported died circa 1720 and she then married John Swan Sr. by whom she had two children, John Swan Jr. circa 1721 and Comfort Swan dated 6 July 1725. (NOTE: I am still out on all this since they give John Swan Sr.'s birth as 1696 which would place Elizabeth Green Foster many years older than he if she married John Foster in 1703 as given or even by 1709, birth of her first child. Not impossible but seems unlikely. Presuming for a moment that these records are at least partly true, perhaps dates are off, and that there is this Foster - Swan connection, this could explain the Swan - Hughes family Bible having an entry for the birth of one Samuel Foster on 2 - 1 - 1763 (page 168 of same book). If indeed, a Thomas Foster of this family connection married Rachel Evans, they would have been intertwining the family names again and the reason for the entry in the Bible. Just thoughts, nothing you can take to the bank. On this entry on the Internet she is show as child of Samuel and Sarah.... It's really the Thomas Foster that I'm curious about. Can anyone verify?
