I love your resolutions, Renee! Have a comment on #4: What happens when you ARE the "Living Treasure"--even if you are under 70?! I started doing family history a little late in the game! My mom was alive but her family was pretty well documented and she took senior center classes in writing your family history. She remembered a few things she heard about my father's family, but I proved them all as false. Happy New Year from the Left Coast! In 2011, I will stop putting off all those genealogy tasks I've been intending to do. Only I know what these are..... but I may have to list them in order to refresh my memory. 2. For example, if I still haven't sent in my "Individual Line of Descent from Richard & Samuel," I will get this done. [19 List members had done this as of the end of October 2010. Please don't list living people. Just substitute with an *. If you wish to send to a list member privately, that's fine. But we will be posting this, as we have done with those of the 19 who have already contributed, on our Myfamily site.... and we always try to protect people's privacy online.] Sample: 6G - Richard Evans 1669 (& Elizabeth Hall) 5G - Samuel Evans1691 (& Sarah Hill?) 4G- Hugh Evans1730 [& Lavinia Simpson] 3G- Richard Evans 1764 [& Mary Pearce] 2G- Israel Evans 1809 [& Ann Eliza Schooley] 1G- George Robinson Evans 1844 [& Paralee Doss] G- Robert Theodore Evans 1877 [& Beulah Witzman] * listadministratorevans@earthlink net <mailto:listadministratorevans@earthlink%20net> 3. If I live near a potential source of information that is not easily accessible either online or because of physical location [E. G., archives in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana], I will consider volunteering to do some old fashioned searching of archives for the sake of the whole list. 4. I will try to interview our "Living Treasures," our senior relatives, and transcribe their memories, stories, or photograph their memorabilia. These are invaluable. Putting off such interviews could be a tragic loss. 5. If I live near some landmark of significance to our Evans family history, I will take photographs and share with my cousins. That's a few to get us started. I have to go start cooking. Feel free to jump right in and share some genealogy tasks for 2011.
