EVANS) for Benjamin EVANS and Mary (Polly) WINFREY. I had already found Martha Louise EVANS based on her marriage record where she was identified as the daughter of Polly EVANS. However, based on the 1830 and 1840 censuses it appears that Benjamin EVANS and Mary WINFREY had a fourth daughter. There was a Mary B. EVANS who married Elisha E. JONES, son of Levi JONES and Julia Anne WINFREY. We know of this marriage based on the following Adair County marriage record: "JONES, Elisha E. to EVANS, Mary B., 9 Aug 1841." Then in the family bible of Philip WINFREY, Jr., brother of the above Mary (Polly) WINFREY, the following record is found: "Mary B. Jones Departed This life July the 12th 1842 Age 22 years 1 month & 26 days" The above results in a calculated birth date for this Mary B. JONES of 17 May 1820, which coincides with the birth date range of the second daughter of Benjamin EVANS and Mary WINFREY in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. Thus it has been concluded that the Mary B. EVANS that married Elisha JONES was the daughter of Benjamin EVANS and Mary WINFREY. Does anyone have any additional information that might support or refute this conclusion? Also Rose, would you mind sharing how you connected the above Sarah Rebecca EVANS and Elizabeth P. EVANS as daughters of Benjamin EVANS and Mary WINFREY? You also asked "I would be interested in know why you think that Thomas was the immigrant for our family. I am also interested in finding out where Lavinia comes in as Thomas's wife." Unfortunately I have done no personal research on Thomas EVANS and that information came from the family tree on RootsWeb of Barbara CALKIN located at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2890741&id=I672.
