I haven't posted in several months so I thought I would try once again, maybe someone has the information that I need to find John Evans and his wife, Nettie (LNU). John and Nettie are my gggrandparents, they were the parents of my ggrandfather, Robert Lee Evans, who was born abt. 1870 in Virginia or Washington, D.C. Robert's census info for 1900 says he was b. in D.C. as was his parents. His marriage record says place of birth was Virginia. With a name of Robert LEE, I was thinking maybe Virginia and he may have been named for General Robert E. Lee. I can not find John and Nettie in the census, the closest I came to finding a John Evans was in Rockingham Co., Va with wife, HETTIE. John was b. in Washington and Hettie was b. in Maryland. This was the 1870 Rockingham Va census, they did not have any children in their household for 1870 OR 1880 census. So I am putting them aside as the parents of Robert, for now. This John Evans was a drummer for VMI, he was not a cadet. I was able to obtain a little info from VMI regarding John and Hettie. I am hoping that someone who is also researching the EVANS surname may have some information that would be of some help to me. John and Nettie are such a huge brickwall for me that I am completely baffled as to where to go next. My ggrandfather, Robert Evans, d. in 1903 in Fayette Co., WV and I can't find a death record for him in WV so that route is closed to me. ANY help or leads would be very much appreciated, Bev
