Simon was a Lieutenant in the British 28th Regiment of Foot. He came to Montreal with the regiment in or about 1763 on occupation duty. He married Catherine Marie Louise Josephe DeCouagne in or before 1765. He resigned his commission on 29 March 1768 and remained in Montreal.
