Evans who managed orphans home with school. Closed by 1905.Would like to find further information. By 1907 Mrs Evans had taken 19 orphans by train to a Floresville, Wilson Co.TX orphans home, ran by Joseph F. Spruce. She also had 5 of her own. Among the names of these orphans were SAVAGE,HAMILTON,STAFFORD,the JESSIE BRYANT from 1900 census,BARNES(Barnes?),GLENN,ANDERSON,MYERS,ENLOW,RICHARDS,SIDWELL.All from KY, between ages of 8 to 12. Writings state that Mr Evans had deserted this family. Mrs Evans (Myrtie, Myrtle) children were Lawrence, Walter, Herman,Lottie E. or Charlotte, and Agnes Maria. Have found them in 1910 Wilson Co.TX, 1920 Hidalgo Co TX. Spruce closed orphanage in 1918-17, boys placed in homes, girls taken to a Nazarene school in Hamlin TX. My Grandmother was one of these girls. Mrs Evans and Daughter Lottie stayed in contact with her for a few years. Hoping to find some Evans family that may know more about this, or any other information that may help find out why she was placed in orphanage.
