He was the son of Evan L. Evans and Avrina UNKNOWN. He had one sister and one brother: Jane Evans (b. abt. 1852 in Ohio) and John L. Evans (b. 1843 in Wales). Solomon was a soldier in the US Standing Army. He was stationed in the Western states during the time of the Western Indian troubles. He wrote to his home people for several years, then never again heard from. He was married. He lived in Jackson Co., Madison Twp., Ohio until atleast 1870, where he is listed on the 1870 United States Census. He was living with his brother at that time.
