He married Hannah Pierce of St. Clair county, IL about 1845 and they had at least one daughter - Ophelia J. Evans in 1848 - who married Jasper Messenger about 1875 out in Gillet Grove IL. Such a strange name, yet nothing pops up. I did see records for a public land sale to a Scott Evans out in Denver. The Evans were early settlers to Denver and I remember seeing info on them back in 1980 at the museum there. Stuck in my mind because we were living on Evans Ave!
