It doesn't appear that there is any connection here or the Welsh society does not have all the correct information. My Evans family that was in Ohio went directly from Greene Co., PA to Logan County Ohio, just northwest of Columbus. They were all farmers. While there were a stray coal miner or two, at least 98% of them were farmers continuing the occupation from the time they first came to Pennsylvania.
