Author: pbbut Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/10016/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Bertha Louise Tifft was born to Herbert and Mamie (Ward) Evans on February 4, 1923 in Philpot, Kentucky. Louise grew up around the area where she was born. She was baptized at the Baptist Church in Pleasant Ridge, Kentucky at the age of fifteen. In 1942 she graduated from Daviess County High School. During World War II, Louise wrote to service men including her future husband whom she met when he came to Kentucky to visit a friend of her family. They were married June 16, 1947. Following their marriage, they resided in Iowa for a short period of time before they decided to move to Owensboro, Kentucky. They remained in Kentucky for fourteen years where their two children, Roger and Connie, were born. In 1961 it was decided the family would move back to Iowa and live at Lost Island Lake where she remained until 2005. In 2005 the lake home was sold and she moved to Spencer with her daughter. Louise passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Bobby Gene; her husband, Wilbur on November 10, 1982; her son, Roger on February 12, 1994; and numerous friends and relatives. Louise is survived by her daughter, Connie Tifft of Spencer, IA; three grandsons, Scott Tifft, Robert Tifft and Brian Tifft; three granddaughters, Crystal Tifft, Alecia Tifft and Dayanna Tifft; one great granddaughter, Emily Morgan Tifft; as well as many other relatives and friends.
