Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Reverend Calvin Gray officiating, Internment will ; follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Mrs. Priest was born March 27, 1938 in Hamilton, GA, Daughter of the late Osie J. and Mattie Evans Oliver. She had lived in Columbus most of her life and was a member of Columbus Independent Baptist Church. Mrs. Priest was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Dora Priest, a son, Daniel O. Priest and a sister, Bebie Butler. Survivors include her husband, James P. Priest, Sr.; a daughter, Sandra Townsend; two sons, James Preston Priest, Jr., and Byron Priest, all of Columbus, GA; seven sisters, Gladys, Thompson, Vivian Lucus, Annie Scott, and Frances Maddox, all of Manchester, GA, Edna Duck, of Pine Mountain Valley, GA, Dale Newman, of Midland, GA and Vickie Jamerson of Ellerslie, GA; one brother, Mark Oliver of Pine Mountain, GA; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
