I was born and raised in Russell Co. Va. Many of my Evans ancesters lived and died in the hills of Southwest Va. Littleberry Evans was born in Mecklinburg Co.Va. and moved N.C. and then to Russell, Co. formerly part of Washington Co. until about 1886. His children that I have confirmed were Berry Jr., William Wesley, Wilson, James, Henry G.,and Nathaniel Meredith Evans, who died in Wise Co. Va. my GGGrandfather. I think there was a Littleberry Evans who ended up in Alabama who came from N.C.? Littleberry seems to be a Scotch-Irish name, as well as a sirname. I see it all over N.C. S.C. Virginia and elsewhere where the Scotch-Irish Settled. Also Greenberry seems to be Scotch-Irish. There were two or three Greenberry Evanses. Walter Evans and his wife Lucy/Dicy were in Va. when they had Littleberry according to the census, but they were also in N.C. for a while, before he was born. I think when its finally decided her name was probably ! a combination of the two, maybe Ludicia. An old Southern name also. Children other than Littleberry who others say were Lucy and Walters' were, Louis, Benjamin, James and Thomas. Regards John R. Evans of Ky.
