Made a mistake. Apparently Francis "Frank" M. Evans did marry and his wife didn't die before 1880! Found the following two marriage recs: Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935 about F. M. Evans Name: F. M. Evans Spouse: Miss N. N. Hunter Marriage Date: 21 Sep 1880 County: Tate Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935 about F. M. Evans Name: F. M. Evans Spouse: Miss N. N. Hunter Marriage Date: 28 Aug 1880 County: Tate Apparently the gal who is enumerated on 15 Jun 1880 in his 1880 hh named Nannie M. HUNTER and whose occupation is listed as "help" is who he married--they married either in Aug or Sep of 1880 and then Francis went and died on her in 1883. Wonder if they had any children? Can't locate her in 1900 census recs (she was really a lot younger then him; he was 46 and she only 20 when they married) so likely she re-married by 1900 census.
