Poore, born in Claiborne Co., Tn. in 1857. My Poore name comes from his mother. I decided to do a dna test because an elderly aunt of mine indicated that his father may have been an Evans. I matched Pleasant Holt, the nephew of Elijah Evans. Pleasant's father and mother lived adjacent to Elijah and his wife. Pleasant's dna and mine did not match the dna of his brother Preston Holt's descendants. On a 37 marker test I matched 36 markers with George Abner Evans born in Georgia in 1859, Pleasant also matched. I believe he may be a descendant of the three Evans brothers that went to Ga. from Va. It has been very difficult to determine his father. I suspect my dna would probably match Elijah's. My cousin is a descendant of Wm.(1756) through John (1776). This is a direct line from George E. Evans,Sr. George Jr. and William were brothers. I am trying to get my cousin to test. I have not made the connection with the Ga. line. There has to be one ! because of the dna. I noticed on the 1840 census for Claiborne Co., the my ggggrandfather Jesse Poore lived two residences from Newton A. Evans, who was a son of Walter born in 1767, who was the son of George Sr. Any information you have would be very helpful because I am trying to find relationships and trends that may link to Ga. I noticed that the name Rhoda would indicate an indirect link. My email is: doctorpens@aol.com. Please feel free to contact me.
