I'm asking for help in identifying this lady. Known as "Nannie" Evans, she was a school teacher in the 5th District of Davidson County, TN. She taught at the Murrell School (known as the New Hominy School for a short period) in the now Una Community in Nashville, TN. We know that she was there around 1879. I find her living with the Cephas Harwood family in the 1880 Census, Davidson County, 5th District.. Her name was listed as "Nancy," her age was shown as 29. She is shown as born in Tennessee. An occupation was not shown. We know that this is the lady we are looking for. I have found a "Nany" Evans in the 1870 Census for the 6th District of Davidson County, TN. This "Nany" was a House Servant in the home of William & Mary Gambil. There she is shown as 19, also stating born in Tennessee. I can find no further information on her. Interviews with local residents in 1951 show that she was still living at that time (she would have been about 100) in the White's Creek Pike area of Nashville, Davidson County, TN. Do any of you EVANS researchers know anything about this lady? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
