I believe we are the same Evans line. However my gggrandmother Hattie or Harriet was disowned do to the fact that she married a John Frost. My gggrandmother Harriet (Evans)Frost had a daughter named Fairy Frost, she married Thomas A. Birdsell, April 18,1877 and died Feb 8, 1903, age 25 yrs, 6 months and 20 days. She had three daughters and my grandmother was one of them. Her name was Anna Laura (Birdsell)Stech. She married my grandfather Stech in Pana, Il. My dad was their son. The information I have is rather long so I will start and finish with several messages to you. I was wondering if you have ever heard why the Evans disowned my GGGgrandmother, my father has said there was always a deep secret on his mothers side. Im thinking it may have to do with this John Frost, which by the way I haven't found a clue or a piece a paper on this man. Hope you may heard of someting along the line. Thanks if you have heard anything on this guy. I have alot of information on the Evans family starting with Jeremiah and his family came to what is now Bond/ Fayette Co., Il before 1820. With him in the party were his brothers, wife Polly, 8 children, a son-in-law, John Denton and his brothers, perhaps Sam Houston, who later married Jane Evans, and the family of his oldest son John. They settled in what is now Bear Grove Twp. near the Seminary Twp. line. Jeremiah Evans was quite prosperous, owned much land, and was a prominent man in the community. He is mentioned frequently in the old records. It was said in the county history that he was the first blacksmith in the township. He had put up a shop for his own use but did work for the other early settlers at no charge. Researchers have not been able to get back before Jermiah Evans's father in Virginia. Evans was then as now a very common name, and there were a number of John Evans. This was taken from the will of John Evans, father of Jeremiah, with some research done by! a descendant of the youngest child. John Evans b ca 1736 d 17 July, 1821 in Washington Co., Va.
