He was the son of David and Ruth (Alderson) Evans from Greenbrier co. VA/WV. I thought something might be connected with that name. I saw a Griffith in Augusta in 1790. There is a whole list of them in Shenandoah, Augusta (which Greenbrier was a part of) and Washington Co. Va and Halifax, Va tax lists.
