Evans B. 1828 D. 1862 probably in Civil War. Married Mary E. Williams. They had two children Lucinda Josephine Evans B. 1858, Mary Jane Evans B. 1862. They were probably in the Shelby or Dallas County, AL area in 1860. Any information would help. Thanks, Lorraine Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Does your husband have much information on Martha Evans by chance ?? I have never confirmed if she is in fact a sister of my ggg grandfather Turner Evans, but have been told they were siblings. Would your husband by chance have confirmed information on who Martha's parents were ?? Thanks again, Ginger Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: KLBarnes1958 Surnames: EVANS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9657/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Item Offered: There is a reserve price of $250 on this item. This antique Bible features the Evans family, from Kentucky and Indiana. It is the most wonderful family Bible I have come across, because it not only has handwritten records, but photos of family that are labelled. Usually when you find something like this, the photos are unlabelled, leaving you to wonder who is who -- not so, with this fine document. There is also a handwritten page with more genealogical information on it. This is an absolute treasure trove of information for the right person, and it is in excellent condition. I'm sure at one point that there were latches, but that is the only thing missing from this Bible. It has a tight spine, the gold is bright, and the pages are excellent, as well. There are a few full page illustrations in black and white. Also included is a newspaper clipping about some of the family members mentioned in the Bible. Names mentioned: The front of the Bible says, in gold, "Presented to S.W. Evans, by his father." I presume that this is Simpson Evans, mentioned in the writings. The facing page has the handwritten name Daniel D. Evans, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Some of the names or photos in the records: EVANS: Daniel, Simpson, Lewis, Evelyn, Oscar Elgin, Morris, Mary, Nannie, Allie, Eugene Stanley, and more. Other names mentioned: Nannie Durham, Sallie Ann WoXXXXX, Kingery, Lochtefeld, Hardin, Evans, Minnie Blount, Slara DeLoise Evans, wife of Cyril Lochtefeld, and more. Simpson Evans, owner of the Bible, is one of the photographs inside. 10% discount, if you can show me how you related to the family. If you are a member of this family, and can show me proof, you will receive a discount on shipping.I am not related, I just couldn't let it sit on the shelf, knowing that someone from the family is out there. I am open to other shipping options than Priority, as long as you understand the risk involved with leaving this fine item in the hands of the post office for longer than 2-3 days. Local pickup is also available. The Bible weighs 13 lbs, so it is not a light item. Item number: 280093997238 I ran across while surfing the site-I am not connected to this auction. Good luck, I hope it finds it's family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello to all Evans families and their family lines, I have just discovered I may still have relatives in Indiana with the name today of Griffith or Griffiths. They come from an Evans line in Wales. Ishmel Evans b. abt 1784 had two sons, that I know of. The older was David E. Evans b. 1816 m. Jane Davies and this line comes to me. The other son was Jonathan Evans b. 1822 m. Mariah Kelly. Their daughter Margaret Melissa b. 1846 m. William Griffiths. Their son John Lewis Griffiths b. 1870 m. Margaret Bain. Their son William Griffiths b. 1889 m. Maude Elsie Wheeler. It is this line that has my relatives. Any information that can be added to either the Evans or Griffiths family would be heartily accepted. Louise Dorang

He had to have left sometime after 1884, when my grandfather was born. He never knew his father. Charles and Matilda also had another daughter,Matilda born in 1867, in Bassaleg Wales. It's been a while, thought I would repost my search. Looking for family and ancestry of Charles Henry Evans, born probably in Arkansas (Huntsville, Madison County?) about 1919-1920. He married his first wife, Wilma Gertrude Simpson, in 1940; one child, Thomas Daniel Evans. Second wife was Dora ?, uncertain when they were married. Lived in Faulkner County (Greenbriar/Conway) for many years, had two more children: Michael Evans and a daughter (Tisha/Trisha ?) Evans. Dora either owned or worked at a beauty shop in Conway. Thomas Daniel Evans is searching for his father and his ancestry. Have a great day, Merrie (half-sister of Thomas Daniel Evans)
