I am looking for anyone who is descended from Mary EVANS(and James Newton SORROW). Mary EVANS was born about 1856 in Georgia. She married James Newton SORROW(who was born about 1852 in Georgia). They had 3 children, according to the 1880 Census - John W. SORROW, Mary E. SORROW & Hattie J. SORROW(my Great Grandmother-she married John William Terrell ADAMS). James Newton SORROW worked in a Blacksmith shop in (Lithonia)-Dekalb County, Georgia. If any of this information looks familiar to anyone - and you might any more information, I would really like to hear from you. Thank you, Nancy Bedell

Please, please, when you put in a query about someone, or multiple people, PUT IN DATES AND PLACES! Because that's the only way we can tell if your people are the same as our people. There are a whole lot of Evanses out here, and a lot of them have the same given names.

EVANS on the 1860 WEBSTER County, GA census. He is in his early 20s at this time and still living with his parents, my ggg grandparents Turner and Ridley Wood Evans. The census taker totally mispelled their names which explains why I have not found them before. Turner is listed as Truman and their last name is listed on the census as IVANS !! I am still trying to determine where William T. Evans was after this point and trying to find descendants who may have confirmed family history further back than him and his parents. I believe both Turner and Ridley died the same year this 1860 census was taken, or soon after. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She was born March 26, 1917, in Green Bay, to Harry and Minnie (Bertholdt) Shepard. On Dec. 27, 1941, she married Vernon Gustave Patz. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1976. She married Jackson Evans in September, 1983. He preceded her in death in September of 2006. Dorothea worked for First Baptist Church as its secretary, preparing their newsletter under the direction of Pastor Don Brown. She then continued employment with the Green Bay Public Schools as secretary to Principal Walter Zahn at Franklin Junior High for many years before her retirement in 1983. She and Gus were lifelong Green Bay residents, raising their family at 1190 Elmore St. in Green Bay. Several years after Gus's death, Dorothea married Jackson Evans. They also lived in Green Bay for many years before retiring to Hot Springs Village, Ark. She returned to Green Bay in 2003 to be near her family! . Dorothea was a very active individual her entire life. She was an avid Packers fan and a proud season-ticket holder. She enjoyed all kinds of sports and especially followed professional football, baseball, and golf. She also enjoyed and kept up-to-date with college basketball. She was an accomplished golfer, and was a member of Oneida Golf and Country Club for many years. She enjoyed the competitive spirit of the game, and established several close friendships through golf. She was an excellent bridge player, and competed in several Master Bridge tournaments. In addition to her sports interests, Dorothea was totally committed to educational development her entire life. She was a voracious reader, serving as a wonderful role model to her family, especially her grandchildren, to pursue their highest levels of educational development. William B. Evans in my Georgia line. Lt. William Evans b. Va. 22 Dec 1746 migrated to Ga. with his family after the war. They settled in Wilkes County, Ga. What I have on this line is incomplete but I am particulary interested in William T. Evans b. last in a family of 10 - the oldest born 1807. He married Elizabeth Wozencraft b. Wales and had one son, John. Her father, Thomas Wozencraft is my 3rd great-grandfather, and she is a daughter from his 1st marriage in Wales. Siblings of William T. Evans are: Joseph M., James Corbett, John Pope, Joel, Eliz (could be Elizabeth), Susan G., Polly (nickname?), Cammie (nickname?), Thornton. I have only one child for William T. and Elizabeth: John William Evans (no dates), but there could have been more, although its possible that William T. died young since I have two additional spouses for Elizabeth - but this has not been documented since both are collateral lines for me. Lt. William B. Evans was my 4th great-grandfather. you can email me: dsanfilippo303@comcast.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. For various reasons some families have not been located. | | When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I'm fairly new to genealogy but I've seen a number of family trees stating that William H. is the "original" Roland's son, but the math doesn't work. He died in 1781 and William wasn't born until 1813. I did find a Rolin Evens in the 1820 St. Matthew's Parish portion of the SC census. I believe that may be Roland's son Roland mis-spelled. I just found it today, so I'm still searching for some confirmation of that. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
