Hello........ I find this discussion fascinating! I have always believed my descent was from John.........Samuel, John, Josiah, Enoch, and Ezer are very common names in my line, which I have only been able to trace to Ezer Evans (md Susannah Lindsey 1813 Trigg Co, Ky)........who was probably born about 1790, place unknown, and who died between 1838 and 1840......Census listings 1820-1840 in Tennessee during those years. Wife was alone in 1840 in Tenn and in Trigg Co, Ky in 1850 with children. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE THE NAME EZER EVANS ANYWHERE IN YOUR RECORDS? Joanne Evans Hodges grandmah@bigskytel.com

I had not heard of it until today in a email. Does somebody have the complete lineage of Samuels children?? As I said previously, the information I have on my David W. Evans is that his father was John. That is the only reference I have for a father for David. Unfortunatley, that is the wall of my Evans research. I hope that someone will read this and put me over the wall and further back on my Evans lineage. I did this last month on my Humphrey Lineage and now I am back to 1638 in Wales. He had many sons born between the 1750s - 1780s including a "DAVID EVANS" and many other brothers who could have named a son after their brother "DAVID". Could it be possible that your "DAVID EVANS" (B:1803) was a son of either the "DAVID EVANS" (B: abt 1760s) or one of his brothers) which would make his Granfather the "SAMUEL EVANS" of Knox County, TN??? I am a descendent of "EDWARD EVANS" (B:1762-65) who is most likely a son of this "SAMUEL EVANS" but not for sure. TN., in 1840. David was born in 1803 in TN. it is thought that David's father was John, who lived nearby in 1840. Virginia Jane Tucker whose parents were born in VA was born around 1804 in NC. David and Virginia had eight known children, starting with my ggg grandfather Lankford G. Evans b. in 1831 and died in 1923 at the age of 92. My wife Lee Ann and I purchased a bronze grave marker for his grave and cousins Sharon Davis, her mother Faye and Charles Wood put the marker on the grave on the 18th of Oct. 2005. Lankford Gordon Evans (my ggg grandfather) served in the Civil War in Co. K 42nd Reg. TN Infantry CSA, enlisting on 28 Dec. 1861. In his pension application he states that he was surrendered in Florida in early 1865. I do not know if this helps, let me know if I can be of further assistance. You may have posted it before and I missed it. I do have a David Evans, b. 14 Oct 1789. He died in Harris Co, GA, Bef. 1850. He had nine children and one of them, b. 02 Aug 1812, was named David also. I'm not sure where David Sr was born. What I have on him comes from a Family Bible. I know he married Rhody Milner who was born Bet. 08 Feb 1785 - 1789, in VA. I don't know the exact date because the last number is hard to read in the Bible. If you think you have a connection to this family, you can contact me at: jbrown73@tampabay.rr.com. Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I visited the driveway where Richard Evans and his family lived along Marsh Creek in Oct.of 2006. This is the house they lived in until they moved to AR. A lady who lives very near the driveway played in the Evans house about 60 years ago. The house is no longer there. Most of Richard Allen and Francis Elnora Little children were born in the house. I have trying for many years to prove the native american genetics in Francis. Maybe your information will bring new light in my search. I have photo's of Francis, her family and her father. Most are of slim built, high cheek bones and of dark complexion. Francis'father Isaac Little was 6'4", blue eyed and of dark complexion. Isaac Little family was also from the Linden, Perry Co.
