    1. Re: [EVANS] Vachel Evans, Clermont Co., OH, IL, Maries Co., MO
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mham1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/5225.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I searched Ancestry.com censuses and family trees. I found the family, I think, in the 1860 Census in IL, listed as "Vochel". I no longer have a membership at Ancestry as it was too expensive to continue it for the amount that I used it. If you have a membership or access to the 1860 IL Census, you might check to see if a "Laura" is listed there. Could your Laura have been five-six years younger than you believe? Vachel and Therias are listed in Johnson, Maries, MO from 1870 through 1910. At www.familysearch.org the whole family is listed in 1880 in Maries Co., MO. The children are given as: Sarah B., 24 OH; Milton F., 22 OH; William W., 21 OH; Edwin 18, IL; Minnie B., 16 IL; Albert V., 14 IL; Caroline R., 12 IL; Ada A., 10 MO; Calvin, 7 MO. You might write to the Johnson, Maries Co., probate office and see if there is a will for him with descendants listed. It's possible. I'll keep scratchin'. [1880 Census; Johnson, Maries, MO; FHL 1254702; NA Film No. T9-0702; ! Pg. No. 158A] I'd love to find out that he was Henry Hudson Evan's son. He had an unknown male, who was under 10, living with him according to the in the 1820 OH census and three unnamed daughters that were b. betw 1813-1818. Vachel is listed as b. ca 1822 in the censuses, so he couldn't be his son or his age as listed in later censuses is wrong. I know that he had a son Henry W., b. 1822. That Henry married three/four times to an Ida Ann Brewer, an Annie; an Alice and an Allie. In Henry Hudson's will, Henry W. and Vachel Evans are listed as separate people. Henry Hudson Evans' known children were: Henry W. b. 1822 OH; Mary Ann b. 1828 OH (m. Isiah Fagin); Joseph b. 1830 OH (m. Eliza Ann John); Edward b. 1832 OH (m. Anne Eliza Beam); David, b. 1834 OH (m. Annie Jenkins); Rosanna, b. 1835 OH (m. ? Lawrence); Arrabelle, b. 1845. I think there are definite possibilities here, but the exact nature is uncertain and needs more digging. Let me know if you find out anything more and I'll do the same. Author: mham1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/5225.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't know if there could be an error in the dates of Laura's birth. I only know what was written in the census. There is a listing in the IGI of Evans marriages in Clermont Co., OH a Vachel Evans marrying a Mary E. McDanals on 10 Aug 1848 . I'm assuming that that is the "Elizabeth" of 1850. That doesn't account for the daughter, Louisa, who is older than that marriage date by three years. It could be that Mary E. McDanals was previously married or that Vachel was. I'll check and see what I can find for a Mary E. McDanals in the IGI. I trying to determine if Vachel was the son of Henry Hudson Evans or related in some other way, i.e. distant cousin. My ggrandmother had a sister named Laura b. 1867 in IA, but there are no "Vachel" that I know of in my direct Evans family. If I discover anything more about any of these Evanses, I'll post it. Author: bheevans Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/5692.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I believe that we are talking about the same information provided by James Evans. I seem to have gotten confused about the information. I found the information fifthteen years ago. I know that Loverance Evans Sr. had a lot of children in Madison County, Kentucky. Loverance Jr. and his brother, John Evans did go to Howard County, Missouri. The information I gave you on John Evans's date of death may be related to this John Evans and not your John Evans. I have to much information to put it all on this web site. You can contact me at BHEEvans@worldnet.att.net. I have concentrated on my mother's side of the family because there were several people researching the family. However, I have not found a single person who was an Evans and researching the Evans family. I have found people over the years that had information because they were Brasfields or Dillinghams. You have a ton of relatives living in the Kansas City, Missouri area in the 1850's. If you look at a census of Clay County for 1850, all the Estes's in the census are my relatives on the Evans side.
