Washington, Missouri and North Carolina. As far back as I can get (just recently started this project) is to Thomas EVANS who was born in abt. 1816 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. Thomas married Sarah GREEN in Dec 1845. They moved to Missouri in abt 1858; Moniteau County (1860 Census) then on to Polk Co. They had the following children: Benjamin Franklin (1847) (my gg-grandfather); Sarah Elizabeth (Nov, 1849); Margaret Ann; William Conley (10-Jun-1858-1-Feb-1932); Martha Ella (abt 1866). Martha is possibly Sarah Elizabeth's child (illegitimate??) Benjamin married Margaret E GUINN/GYNN/QUINN on 19-Aug-1869. They had the following children: Sarah C (abt 1871); Mary E (abt 1873); William D (abt 1877); Rose J (abt 1879); Marion F (Nov-1881); Bessie Viola (Mar-1884); James Blaine (25-Sept-1886 - 12-Dec-1965) (my g-grandfather); Benjamin Harrison (Jan-1889); Lewis A (Nov-1891); Ruth M (Feb-1894). Marion and William D moved to Spokane Co., Washington abt 1900. Bessie married Caleb SKAGGS and also moved to Spokane Co., Washington (1910 Census) and on to Shoshone Co., Idaho (1920/1930 Census). 1. Re: [EVANS] advice needed about creating another more specialized Evanslist
    2. I am so new at this, I would just love to see my Evans family on one of these emails.? I know that there are lots of Evans lines everywhere.? As far back as I can go(which isn't far), we were in Texas??? Is there a website for Texas Evans. -----Original Message----- From: Carolyn Obertein <carolinsaginaw@yahoo.com> To: evans@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 16 Jul 2007 8:14 pm Subject: Re: [EVANS] advice needed about creating another more specialized Evanslist I would like to see us all pool our information together to see if we can help one another out. I quickly put together this website. I can add your family tree under the state they resided. If you send a photo I can add it at the top of your family page with your Evans tree below. If your Evans family resided in more than one state you can let me know and I can link it to each state they resided. I have added my Evans line as an example. I can also add a search engine for the main page. This will help you search for example all "William Evans". I can add a guestbook also for comments and request. Here is the site I put together using rootsweb. Would appreciate your thoughts. 3. To All: I wish to thank Carolyn for publishing my data on her Web Page. There are several large documents and much of the data must be attributed to others. I originally put the documents together in order to help others try to find a connection to our Evans Ancestors. I am certain that the data contained for my own line is correct. Most of the other data has been supplied by other researchers, and considered to be correct by those persons. It was designed as a research/study guide for newer researchers and hopefully will give them clues to their families. If you wish, you may contact me directly and I will try to help you in way that I can, but please consider that my direct interest is to the John Evans family as it occurred in the Monongalia Region of what is now West Virginia. 3. If everyone would prepare a GEDCOM, one person using a good genealogy program could fuse them all together. There are too many lines out there to attempt this without using GEDCOM submission. -- TUCSON ARIZONA IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOUNTAINS MailTo:evnbilw@msn.com http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/w/h/i/William-D-Whims/index.html

Author: repage Surnames: ROBERTS, EVANS/EVENS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9753.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It is possible that your Sarah Roberts lived to 108, but a little history of Indiana might help you on where to look in your Indiana search. The Northwest Territory was created in 1787. That was divided into Indiana Territory (and others) in 1810. Indiana became a state on 10 December, 1816. Knox County was the first county formed and that was in 1790 ergo as part of the Northwest Territory. Putnam County was formed in 1821 from Vigo and Owen Counties. Vigo and Owen Counties were formed in 1818; Vigo from Sullivan County, Owen from Daviess and Sullivan Counties. Daviess and Sullivan Counties were both formed in 1816 from Knox County. I checked the index in my books on Indiana Territorial Records and found no Thomas or Sarah (Roberts) Evans. I did find a Samuel Evans, a Benjamin Evans and a John Evens/Evans.
