He came to America aboard "The Welcome" with his brothers(father, Lott Evans, died at sea of pox) and was a friend of William Penn. He was born 1662 Wales, married Sarah Martha Elizabeth Roberts, died 1756 in Philadelphia. The bits of information I have is that he decended from the Fourth Royal Tribe, but I am missing links on this. Anyone looking at the same stuff and have a better ancestry? Help please!! This year I discovered my gg grandparents were Rev. James E. EVANS and Permilia J. MAYS. Today I discovered an obit that said he was laid to rest on 20 May 1886. His service was held at Mulberry Street Methodist Church in Macon (Bibb), GA, where he was a former preacher. I am related to James EVANS through his son William. When you click onto the link provided in the earlier message in this thread, it takes you to a page telling you the book has been moved, you will either be redirected automatically to the new page, or you click onto the link that says "click here". It then brings up a page telling you about their services and you want the link on the left that says "Genealogy Books"; from there you get to another page that lists options, including States and Topics such as Biographies, etc. and Surnames. The Evans book is under the Surnames options. I found it and here is the new direct link to it: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/surnames/evans/ Just to let others know also, there are other kinds of genealogy related books on this website, so you might want to explore it further, too. I have a 230 page document in .pdf that contains information that I have collected on the immigrant Powel Evans and his descendants. I will upload it to any who want it. Just send me your request and email address and I will send it out over the weekend. Not much more information than the following: Evans Family: Originating in that part of Frederick County, Virginia which is now in Berkeley County, West Virginia by Marjorie Stewart Tucker Earl Gray Printing Birmingham, Alabama 1983 I doubt these are yours, but I could check the index for you. I actually may want to sell this book.I just bought it, but it doesn't have my people in it. It rather oversize, leather with gold writing, so high quality. At this point I'd just like to contact the author to discuss the early Evanses of this family to try to clear up some confusions. Hi, Does anyone know Marjorie Stewart Tucker who wrote: Evans Family 1700-1983? Is she still writing? I'd like to ask her a couple of questions but have no idea how to find her. Thanks Renee
