Evans born in 1803 in TN. He married a Virginia Jane Tucker of NC. On the family group record sheet that I have, it says that David's parents were both born in TN. Virginia's parents were born in VA. David and Virginia's children were all born in Perry Co. TN: Langston Gordon, b.1831 Some of the Langston Gordon Evans family moved to the Greene Co. Arkansas area from Perry Co. TN. around 1881. I hope that someone can be of further assistance in my quest for more information on this Evans family. He was the son of Evan L. Evans and Avrina UNKNOWN. He had one sister and one brother: Jane Evans (b. abt. 1852 in Ohio) and John L. Evans (b. 1843 in Wales). Solomon was a soldier in the US Standing Army. He was stationed in the Western states during the time of the Western Indian troubles. He wrote to his home people for several years, then never again heard from. He was married. He lived in Jackson Co., Madison Twp., Ohio until atleast 1870, where he is listed on the 1870 United States Census. He was living with his brother at that time. I had purchased a memorial bronze metal tombstone marker for Langston and hand carried it in my airline carryon bag. I had the shop where I bought it in Bellingham put his full name, his Civil War Union Regiment and yrs of birth and death on it. Gravestone location: If you are facing the front of the cemetary church, it is directly behind the right side of the church. There is a little cemetary road going uphill behind the church. Langston grave is on the left side of the road and directly behind the right side of the church. A week later, Charles and his wife Deroda made a concrete base and set the marker in the fresh concrete. This is the info I have on your great grandfather Joseph E. Evans: b. 21 July 1874 om Perry Co. TN. d. 4 Dec, 1948 in Greene Co. AR. Sharon Davis's grandmother (Faye's mother still lives in Greene Co. AR. I did not get to meet her as she was sick that day on 18 Oct. 2005. Charles Wood of Paragould, AR has lots of info on the Evans Lineage. Charles and my lineages also includes the Little's of Perry Co. TN. Frances Elnora Little Evans (Richard Allen's wife) b. 28 Nov. 1854 in Linden, Perry Co. TN, d. 13 March 1920 in Greene Co. AR. Frances's father Isaac Little is buried in the National Cemetary in Memphis, TN. He died in 1864 in a Union hospital due do congestion of the lungs.(flu) I have been trying to prove for many years that Isaac was of native American lineage. He was 6'4" tall, high cheekbones, blue eyes and of dark complexion. Many of Isaac's physical features have been passed down from generation to generation. To the best of my research, I believe that his grandmother on this mother side (Nancy Hickey) who had only one name Judah or Juda was the native american. Back then,a white man could marry a native female, but, a native man could not marry a white female. His blue eyes would come from his father's lineage, but, the other physical features would have to come from his mother's lineage. Well, I hope I have given you some facts about our Evans lineage. A note of invitation from Rome, Georgia, apprises us that the stewards of Rome station, North Georgia Conference, have determined to celebrate the golden wedding of Rev. Dr. James E. Evans and his wife, Mrs. Parmelia J. Evans, at the M. E. Church, South, in Rome, March 22d, 1881, from 8 to 11 p. m., and they very properly desire to make it the occasion of a general collection of friendly golden offerings by the numerous admirers of the excellent clergyman throughout the State. Dr. Evans was licensed to preach December 25, 1820, more than a half century ago, and the whole State of Georgia has been the theatre of his faithful and affectionate ministrations. Marshburn, Rev. John R. Lowe, Rev. B. F. Timmons, Rev. J. R. King, Messrs. W. R. Singleton, E. Winship, W. R. Rogers and H. L. Jewett. The several ministers of the churches in Macon occupied the pulpit. The following hymn was then sung by the choir, which consisted of Misses Carrie Butts and Minnie Cook, Prof. Newman and Mr. Hibner, with Mr. A. L. Wood as organist: "Servant of God, well done! Rest from thy loved employ; The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy Master's joy." A prayer was then offered by Rev. A. M. Winn. Rev. A. W. Clisby announced the hymn, "Unveil thy bosom faithful tomb." After singing this hymn, Rev. G. C. Smith delivered a eulogy on the deceased minister, reviewing his ministerial career. He was followed by Rev. W. C. Bass, who spoke feelingly of the deep interest felt by the deceased in education. He was chairman of the board of trustees of Wesleyan Female College. Rev. W. F. Cook alluded to his personal character, which was in every way without a blemish. Rev. J. O. A. Cook read the last letter ever written by Dr. Evans. It was written on the day of his death and was clothed in beautiful language. Rev. John R. Lowe gave a detailed statement of the last hours, and concluded by saying that the last sermon preached by Dr. Evans was delivered in the same pulpit that the last sermon of Bishop Pierce was preached in. The procession then moved on its way to Rose Hill Cemetery, where the services were concluded. This is my gg grandfather.
